I really hope the Cardinals sign him back. He’s a great reliable pitcher, and a big reason he’s had a terrific year is cuz he’s been on the Cardinals. They really know how to change a pitcher’s year. Go Cardinals!
Draven Moss
But he was a good pitcher his prior year with the Red Sox….

I think they have to at least make him an offer.
bbatardo
I can see him getting a 2 year deal with 3rd year club option/buyout

Don’t forget about last year’s Jake Peavy contract as a comp.

Compare their recent numbers. I think Lackey should expect and get a higher AAV.

He should come back to Boston on a deal that requires him to pay Craig’s salary. The Popeye’s near Fenway misses him.

Something like 3/36 out of the question? I know Lackey’s agent will push for a third year, and a year like this seems to indicate he’s still got plenty left in the tank. Wonder if the Tigers will make a run at him.

Tigers could look at Lackey,Buehrle,Young,or Lohse as low cost, short term bridge in 2016-17 to the up and coming starters received this year. Could be used in the bullpen in 2017. My vote is on Buehrle. Tested in Central AL and I don’t think is tied as close to current team like Lackey or Young.

I would rather they took a chance on Latos in Detroit. Verlander is their veteran guy. No need for an over 35 arm. They could just keep Wolf for that. Easier to move a Wolf to the bullpen than a Buehrle when the young arms are ready.

I think he’s looking at a 15 million AAV, so that looks a bit low. Peavy got two years 24 million and he’s not as good as Lackey.

I think Lackey should re-sign with the Cardinals , his bulldog mentality fits with the club and another veteran in the rotation to go with the young pitchers they have but also led by their ace Waino
