Players earning their performance bonuses is always nice to see.

I’ll never understand this idea that local media/writers, have regarding the Padres hiring a manager or a coach or for that matter, a player, “because they have San Diego connections”.
no one can predict what PRELLER will do from one minute to the next, so it makes more sense to STOP saying, someone like Ausmus “would be a top candidate for the manager’s job” in SD. How would someone know something like that?
if you ask me, going beyond the call of duty to hire people who live here, have played here, etc, is part of the problem with this franchise.
its time for some new blood..and it wouldnt break my heart, if Preller made something of a clean sweep, and hired a manager who has NEVER played here, and would want his own coaching staff.
we’re supposed to hire Ausmus to manage here?…why?….they got swept in the LDS last season. And a lot like Black in 2007, he inherited a team that was basically made for the playoffs. All he had to do was to NOT upset the apple cart, and let the players play.
If the Padres want to get where they’re trying to go, quicker, then they should hire a skipper that has “been there and done it”….why risk another managerial hire, that is even remotely questionable?..
