Ken Roberts is the only one ineligible for minor league free agency, I believe. Petibone and De Fratus could make great buy-low signings. Both have shown signs of talent.

None of those cut loose by the phillies are worth much. Pettibone is a AAA pitcher and De Fratus just isnt very good, the more he pitches the more he gets hit

De Fratus was among the best NL Relievers last season (2014) & a resurgance isnt impossible and petibone was a 1.5 WAR in his rookie year at age 22-23 before getting hurt. Whose to say he doesnt act as a nice mid rotation guy somewhere else.

De Fratus was projected to have a 1.2 War season this year and was pretty darn good last year. Just goes to show how volatile relief pitching is.
That said, I don’t see why a rebuilding club would part with either him or Pettibone. I don’t know if Pettibone will ever shake the injury bug but he could be a solid middle reliever and a resurgence for De Fratus is entirely possible. I guess a lot of guys need rule 5 protection

Tromp, Quinn, Rios, Perkins, Edubray Ramos, Stassi, Lino… Plus they probably want one or two slots open on the 25-man for Rule 5 selections of their own next year.
