Matt Wieters… yay
philly435
It seems likely that Ng is going to be the next Phillies GM. From what I’ve read she’s extremely qualified to be a GM, I just hope she’s the CORRECT GM for the team and not some token Pr stunt

What would be appropriate for Arrieta extension wise at this point? 6 years 130 million? 10-15-25-25-25-25 + 5 for signing? Controls him through age 35 season. And if that’s the case is it really wise to go for another high priced FA pitcher?
Larry D.
Betting Boras doesn’t settle for less than $150mm. If Arrieta can pitch like he is pitching today through his next contract, that would be a bargain for the Cubs.

150 sounds about right.. Have to remember he still has 3 years of arbitration

Cubs should just go year to year with Arrieta unless he/Boras agree to a bit of a discount. The Cubs already control Arrieta though his age 32 season.

Unless I’m missing something, they control him through his age 30 and 31 seasons (next year and 2017). He’ll be a free agent prior to 2018.

That’s a pretty major “if” you just breezed through in that comment.
And That
Does anyone proofread Heyman’s columns? I’m about halfway through reading and I think I’m at six spelling mistakes now. That’s pretty embarrassing.

How much did you pay to read Heyman’s column? Not to be snarky at all, but that’s why newsrooms can’t afford the layers of editing they used to have, and why more stuff goes up on the web with minimal editing if any at all. Hopefully they figure out the economics of the new online business before they all go out of business.
And, yes, it is embarrassing.

Angels could keep Murphy and go after Zobrist. Zobrist plays 2B with Murphy in LF against RHP and Zobrist in LF with Giavotella at 2B against LHP. Also lets Giavotella replace Featherston as the utility infielder.

The angels should bring Murphy back, he came up with some clutch hits with the angels, imo they need a solid lefty back, Heyward or Parra. Re-sign freese and maybe an ace.
