The Braves acquired Chris Withrow in the Juan Uribe trade. They acquired Paco Rodriguez in the Hector Olivera trade.

I think the braves have a good number of starting pitching that will hopefully continue to develop in 2016. look at dallas kuchel. took a few years to become the pitcher he is now. The braves offense must be addressed. not sure if some of the newer braves will be on the roster next year or not, even players like bourne and swisher who got off to slow starts after being traded from cleveland.

Easy Fix concerning Plerzynski ,Money Talks, Braves want to Keep AJ , pay more money.

Minor = done w/ Braves he’ll be traded in summer, Ban will probably end up in the bullpen to save his arm and Folty the beta version of Kimbrel. Go sign a starter like Estrada for 3 with a 4 year option that vests if traded and hope to god he holds up and dump him during the 2017 winter (he’ll be 34 and god willing still throwing Sub 4 baseball). Then there’s always someone like Chris Young; 1 year with a 2nd year option or even 2 years guaranteed and then trade him either at All-Star break or next Winter.
P.S. assuming no setbacks the rotation is already Teheran, Wisler, Perez (im still 50/50), Minor (sigh), and Jenkins (i no way influence who actually gets 5th spot)

I’m guessing in your scenario Shelby Miller takes over in LF?

Well played sir

I highly doubt that Minor is done with the Braves…assuming that he comes back and can still pitch, a 5-6 million dollar gamble on a pitcher is no big deal nowadays. Heck masterson got $10 mil after a disaster of a season. The hope for the braves is to have Teheran, Minor, Miller, and whoever else can fill out the rotation. They sound as if they are going to give the kids every chance to win spots in the rotation. The offense is what needs to be the priority.

I’d agree but really a lot of games were much closer and we should have won far more than we did had our bullpen not been a complete mess. This season they were capable of being over .500. A healthy Freeman does a whole lot to aid the lineup. Theyre going to do patchwork in the field again this year and push for 2017 as the year for larger signings. Plus we’ve added Olivera which immediately helps. Well at least I’ve liked what I’ve seen from him so far. Winter ball will do a world of good for him. Also, do you really see anyone that would fit the Braves? I guess Zobrist would be nice but other than that I don’t really see anyone

I don’t see the Braves going into free agency except for pitching. The only intriguing bat that I could see them go after is Chris Davis. He would be a major power bat that could slot into left field. The other outfield bats are either streaky or we know what they are and we already traded them once. Other than that, I could see us looking at trades. Don’t know who would be available right now, but you never know. At this time last year Donaldson wasn’t available.

The Braves could stand pat and just sign two really good relievers and re-sign Pierzynski. This team was competitive in 2015 until Grilli went down and they fire sold what they could. They have a lot of pitching put they could also sign one solid experienced guy and just have one of the best AAA rotations down at Gwinnett for depth. If it were up to me, I like Tyler Clippard and Joakim Soria. Those two pitchers alone would give us a powerhouse bullpen with what we already have. Huge potential.

This is somewhat a fantasy I know, but with David Price from Tennessee, we could get him to take a backloaded deal to offset the costs of Bourn and Swisher this season. We could even potentially trade Cameron Maybin and throw Mallex Smith out there in center if we needed to free up the cash. I figure a deal in the neighborhood of 7 years and $210m could get it done broken down: $15m-$30m-$35m-$35m-$30m-$30m-$25m and a $25m option with $10m buyout
ROTATION
David Price
Shelby Miller
Julio Teheran
Mike Minor

Willams Perez
Ryan Weber
Manny Banuelos
Tyrell Jenkins

The one way the Braves could save money on the offense after unloading Maybin for a prospect would be to continue transitioning Adonis Garcia to left field. I think he has huge potential. In a full season he could hit 30 homers.

Tell me that team couldn’t compete. Though it’s more likely we keep Cameron Maybin and sign a guy like Marco Estrada, Yovanni Gallardo or Jaime Garcia. Still gonna be a fun team to watch next season.

It sounds good but the Braves would be competing with the war chests like the Dodgers. Plus the Dodgers can (assuming they fix their bullpen next year) probably promise him the playoffs. Then there’s the whole sunny LA, Hollywood, etc etc component. Don’t put it past the Dodgers to offer north of $220 for him, especially with other parties involved. Also, if they can’t complete a restructured deal with Greinke then the Braves chances of signing him disappear. But your scenario is a lovely thought

Good point: don’t bust your nut too early in the offseason, especially on a less-than-ideal scenario. Chris Davis intrigues me as well. Small sample I know, but he’s been decent in the outfield thus far.
