I’d also think it worth mentioning that Shelby is very personable and diligent about signing autographs after most games. He did not let the tough season he and the Braves had this year keep him from being an excellent person to help represent the Braves. I hope he has a long and successful career. I cherish the autographs he signed for me and the pleasant interactions with him.

Think Atlanta would be wise to try and lock up Miller now while he’s still young and has 3y of control left, though don’t understand why Chacin was used as an example here. Miley really isn’t comparable talent wise to either Miller, or Lynn. Both may develop further into #2 types as they age.

Why the comps were used as comps was clearly explained- similar service time and not extreme outliers.

They still basically use 1940s era analytics in arbitration which boggles my mind.

Miller has 3 years of control, the Braves may be 2-3 years away from contending. They should try to extend Miller and buy out a few FA years. If they are unable to do so, I wonder if they would ponder the trade market for him while his value is likley at an all time high (his peripherals indicate he’s been a bit worse than his ERA, and he cooled off a lot after the all star break)
