Well toronto also has options in second base, Goins and Travis could play everyday for any team maybe one can be traded.
go_jays_go
absolutely not.
Tulo has a history of injuries, and now that the plays for Toronto, expect that to become worse. As for Travis, I hate to say it, but this is the second consecutive season where he’s missed significant time due to injuries.
Toronto is going to need a capable backup middle infielder (both offensively and defensively) so when one of the two starters gets injured, we’ll have a backup option ready.

If the Dodgers ownership continues to keep the check book open, they could bring in either Upton or Heyward, resign Greinke & a chance to bring in another SP.

Good morning folks. Before a comment on Pompey, I hope I will be allowed to offer an observation or two on the the Bluejays’ present journey:
i) the Jays have finally been able to break through to winning over KC’s terrific and well-managed team, thanks to the defence and alas the offence of Ryan Goins.
ii) I wanted to see Thole on the roster which would allow the Jays in latter innings being able to use Navarro as a pinch hitter.
No one knows what will happen in the next game or games. That is playoff baseball. As well, no one knows what AA will do via trades and such. My question, concerning Pompey, is how would Pompey fetch a pitcher of substance: wouldn’t Pillar garner a better return?
Thanks in advance.

KC is well managed, huh? Funny how a couple playoff runs can change the perception. Yost is still the same manager he was, a not very good one.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Toronto doesn’t have much of a farm to acquire an MLB pitcher. Instead, Why not trade a MLB veteran to acquire a MLB pitcher?
If anything, I’d look to deal Revere over Pillar over Pompey.

Ben Revere was acquired for a pair of mildly interesting low-minors relievers a few months ago. So yes, you’d obviously rather give him up than the other two, but you’d do so without actually expecting to get anything much of interest back in return.

Asche really does make some sense for the Brewers. His bat isn’t potent enough for a corner OF but could play at 3B with slight improvement. Counsell seems to favor platooning and Perez showed enough in that role that he could be RH half along with providing late inning defense. Brewers are in need of more pop from left side to be sure at least until Phillips takes over in CF.

Trading either one or both of Crawford and Ethier really isn’t a plan for the Dodgers. They have tremendous issues in the outfield going forward unless they are confident that Pederson can fix his swing and Puig isn’t chronically unhealthy (why he is completely missing from the answer to this question is a mystery). Also I don’t recall Hernandez playing much if any RF. Either way the platoon suggestion doesn’t make a lot of sense and would be a waste of his talents besides.

I wonder if the BlueJays would have any interest in Jon Niese. He is a controllable lefty with MLB average…everything. He has shown sparks of #3 stuff, but is probably more realistically a solid #4. The Mets have 4 spots taken already and they’ll need someone to keep #5 spot warm for Wheeler in the second half. Montero (assuming he is healthy) and Verrett are both serviceable options if they move Niese.
