Tired of hearing Davis to Boston. Would be terrible, not only the contract itself, but they can cover the position with Ramirez and Shaw to some extent this year and probably Sam Travis next year. It’s not a perfect fix, but they need to spend what money that have on the actual needs, not pretty pictures.. Go for the pitching!

Yea it sounds absurd. They just gave out massive contacts to Sandoval and Hanley and now they want to give it out another to Davis? No way they could add Davis and an ace through FA and to trade for one would cost more then its worth. Hanley will be the DH come 2017. Next year will be Hanley/Shaw then they will probably look to convert Devers to First.
Chuxin
Why Devers to first? How about Sandoval to first next year????
bruinsfan94 2
Because Sandoval was supposed to be a value at defense. By 2017/2018 who knows where his health will be. Saying as how PD is at 2nd for the long haul, Moncada will probably be groomed to play third and Devers will go to first. Sandoval will probably not be a starter anymore unless he gets back on track

Look for Span being from Chicago and when playing there he invited so many to the games- look for him to get a 2 year discount to play there. Almora will take over in July of 2016 unless Span has a year like he has when playing the Cubbie’s.
impactrookies
Cubs would probably rather pay Fowler over Span in my opinion.

as Jim Bowden pointed out 25 million on Estrada and happ for 2016 –no david price..crazy…especially happ a career 4.7 era…a 6 million year to year pitcher..who in 11 fantastic starts in the national league gets 36 million.
AA where are you?
when July 31st comes Mark better hope some pitching is there for the post season run
or early exit this time…
Stroman and Estrada and pray for rain..,
expect Toronto Bluejays play In a Dome…
Hank Murphy
Could not agree more, except for the fact that I don’t have much faith in Estrada replicating what he did last year. A career year for a pretty mediocre pitcher; I wouldn’t bet on him being any good 2016. Yep, it’s a shame, the “window” was supposed to close after 2016, but Shapiro slammed it shut in November 2015.

Hanley Ramirez is going to be our firstbaseman…unless someone, anyone takes him off our hands PLEASE, any takers?
baronbeard
With Kirby and Gomes gone, the Rays bullpen looks a lot stronger. My only concern now is how inconsistent Romero was. He was not good in high leverage situations at the end of the season. Hopefully they saw something they can tweak in spring training.
TheMichigan
I think Travis shaw deserves first base over Hanley, the Red Sox totally blew it by signing him to such an outrageous contract

J.A. Happ was the 6th man fighting for a rotation spot with Drew Hutchison 2 Years ago…why the hell would we go out and resign him an essentially create the same problem we had 2 years ago…it just makes no sense…Hutchison and Chavez and Happ and Sanchez will fight for 2 spots…..dumb dumb dumb..#notagain #whataretheythinking #4number4’s
Hank Murphy
I think we know why AA left. Shapiro is an idiot and AA realized that the moment he met with him.
Hank Murphy
Funny, Happ said that he came to Toronto because they were contenders. Yet, him and the other scrap making up most the rotation clearly make them non-contenders.
