Also read, the White Sox have no interest in Cespedes. Rick Hahn, when asked for a quite, said “Y tu mama tambien!”

Would really like to see the Tigers take flier on Doug fister. Would love for the Tigers to bring him back and hopefully have a huge comeback year.

For Christ’s sake! The White Sox need to accept the fact that they’re not gonna get Cespedes on a three year deal. A guy that good is gonna require at least 5 years and $100m.

White Sox are arguably the best and most obvious fit and they for some reason think he’ll come down on years. It is excruciating to observe as a fan. His eventual signing elsewhere marks the beginning of the end of this core, coaching staff, front office, and hopefully ownership.

Can’t spend the cash if there is no cash coming in.

We (White Sox fans) are not like Cub fans who spend money on an inferior product. Win, and we show up. Lose, and we don’t. Its incumbent on them to win and we will spend the money on them. Not the other way around. I have not renewed my tickets this year yet. And I won’t if they are telling me Saldino is our starting SS.
JT19
Its hard for the team to justify spending when no one shows up either. Yeah the team should be doing its best to put the best product out there, but if the fans aren’t showing up then why should the owners keep spending? Its not like the team is intentionally trying to lose. Excuses like that are the reasons why teams move.

So sick of Jerry reinsdorf and the way he allows no accountability for the white sox and Bulls. Luckily for the white sox he will hopefully not be the owner for that much longer, however the Bulls will always be a reinsdorf debacle.
CHendershott
It’s Reinsdorf putting the cap on the years. I bet he was behind signing Danks over Buerhle too

Is he selling the team and I don’t know, or are you talking about him dying, because that’s a little messed up.
pullhitter445
Jackstigers he has told his family that he wants the white sox sold once he passes away. His son is involved in the Bulls front office and wants that team to stay in the family. Obviously the Bulls r more profitable. In no way shape or form do I wish death upon Jerry reinsdorf, that’s not what my post was implying. With that being said I hope he sells team before that moment in life, as a fan I’m over the way he allows his teams to waste years. Yes he has delivered NBA championships thanks to MJ, and one white sox World Series which I’ll never forget. He’s content with just making a profit and being mediocre. I don’t support owners who don’t want to win or put there organizations in better hands. Maybe I’m just demanding to much from my teams owner.

I wonder if there are any suspicion that Cespedes is older than his reported age. He is not that old so I am curious why teams have much of an issue with a 5-6 year deal for a 30 yo. The added years are the price you pay for the top FA, and offsets the years of team control at below market rates for so many players. T
MLBTRS
There must be a logical reason why such a great player can’t settle in on one team for more than a year or two. Real age is an issue with a lot of Latin players, especially Cubans, as it’s been difficult to access reliable records.
CFish96
Just give him a 5 year deal with an opt out after 2.
JT19
Curious for Reynolds to say that Upton is looking to stay with one team for a while, but then ask for an opt-out in one of his proposals.
fermier
That is exactly the BAD deal that the White Sox want to avoid! If he’s declining after 2 years and he elects to stay then the Sox are stuck paying for a poor performer., A clean contract with a fixed end is better.
Steven P.
Sox fans shouldn’t be too upset if we don’t sign Cespedes. It might be a blessing in disguise.
Cespedes is a very good player, but I have concerns about his low on base percentage and ability to produce over a 5 year deal. A big money, 5 year deal could really sting if he doesn’t hit and/or regresses
Backatitagain
Would there be any interest in a straight up trade of Ender Inciarte for Miguel Sano.
Priggs89
I’m sure there would be… on the Braves side. No way the Twins would even think about that
pockets
Yes, delusional Braves fans would be interested in that.

Welp looks like Cespedes took less years for more money.. White Sox clearly have no one to blame but themselves.
