Best of luck on your new team Bautista. We’ll always have the bat flip!

Gammons also hears from two Orioles pitchers that Gallardo’s issue is “really unfortunate” and “apparently pretty serious.”
Well, how would these ‘two’ Oriole pitchers know?
Plus, what are the O’s going to do for pitching?
DD didn’t want Latos.
Those trades he talked of during the GM meeting last December never materialized.
Plus, how recent were the medicals of Gallardo that the O’s reviewed before this all got started? Those medicals should have shown something, bottomline is this is a messy situation and it is unfortunate.

Lincecum.
mike156
That’s a very odd comment. Let’s assume it’s true, and the medicals show something. Baltimore is certainly within its rights to walk away. But why would Baltimore medical staff be sharing info with players on the roster? The leak, if it occurred, basically trashes Gallardo’s chance of getting a decent contract. Who is going to sign someone that has a “really unfortunate” and “pretty serious” condition? If you are a free agent pitcher next year, you probably are going to be very careful about accepting an offer from the O’s.
Mitch Augustyn
Its not like they were besting down the door with offers for Gallardo.
Trevor 3
The O’s stepped out of signing Balfore and the Rays gave him a contract. The medical results on Balfore didn’t stop them.

If I was a free agent pitcher, I’d definitely stay away from the O’s
micg
Well what exactly is it that you THINK you know?
Lefty_Orioles_Fan
I know everything, Micg, but can prove nothing.
dwilson10
The players aren’t saying it is an unfortunate injury, cause nobody but the medical staff and coaches know what is going on. The players are saying it’s really unfortunate that something like this is happening to a pitcher they really wanted.

Good luck to Jose. His arrogance has always been in the way of his total acceptance by Toronto fans. We don’t suffer arrogance/narcissism well here. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is booed this year, especially WHEN the team tanks.
BoldyMinnesota
Thanks for your opinion troll
dalrob
Jose’s arrogance will make for a long and difficult season especially WHEN the team tanks.

Does anyone think that they have a viable option in house? (Bundy?)
mstrchef13
Looks like Vance Worley is the next man up if, in fact, the O’s move on from Gallardo.
dwetzel
Word is that Bundy’s velocity goes down significantly when asked to pitch in the starting role. Man how much it pains me considering how high he was touted before TJ surgery. As an O’s fan I just want a solid #1 SP and I wish we had invested the 164 million we gave Davis on that instead.

I think the ONLY think Teixeira’s declaration of wanting to play 5 more years or even 2 or 3 years does to the Yankees plans it almost assures that the Yankees will make Teixeira a QO at the end of the 2016 season. Which he will probably reject.
JoeyPankake
That brings up an interesting question. What if he, or any player, said they planned to retire after the season, and then halfway through the offseason had a change of heart. Would the team still be able to put a qualifying offer on a player who is set to retire?
pinballwizard1969
Don’t have a clue. But I think any team that thought the player was worth a QO would hedge their bet or play it safe and make the player a QO by the deadline. Then if the player retires no harm no foul. If the player doesn’t or didn’t retire the team protected itself.
Adderlyn
I don’t know about Teixeira, i really like him when he’s healthy, I think this season will be like a chance to prove he can play a couple more of years healthy if he does. The Yankees are will make a QO and tho a lot of people thinks he must go i think if he can take a deal for one year the Yankees should re sign him, Bird is injured and won’t play this entire season, and to be honest i don’t think he’ll be that great in 2017 coming from that injury and being sit for a full season to play as everyday player, i think he should play a couple of years at triple A, well depending how he does at spring training that year
southpaw2153
Don’t know what Bautista is looking for but he is going to be 36 at the end of the season. Probably not getting more than a 3-year deal, if he’s lucky.
As far as Teixeira, it’s time for him to go after this year. Excellent player but he is always injured. Bird should be back by late summer and then play in the Arizona fall league. Yanks are going to use Tex’s $ to go after Strasburg next winter.
Michael Macaulay-Birks
All media including yes network say that Bird is out for the entire season

Breaking news: Bautista says he wants to sign with the Dodgers after this season.
They’ll be the only ones who can afford him
GarryHarris
I liked last year’s Blue Jays team until the playoffs. Now the only thing I remember about the team is how classless both Jose Bautista and Troy Tulowitzski acted during that series..
BoldyMinnesota
Thats funny, the only classless player I remember during that series was Sam Dyson. Maybe next year Tulo will tap every player he doesnt know butts too. And Edwin will start fights with every player who tries to settle down an excited crowd. And while were at it, when the biggest homer in over 20 years is hit by an imposing team at the most unlikeliest of times, Bautista will make sure they keep their head down because we need to keep all emotions out of baseball
jrwhite21
“Biggest homer hit in twenty years”….do you mean in all of MLB or just Toronto?

Good call Garry…

With a little luck and good health, righty Rick Porcello is capable of turning his 9-15 2015 season around to 15-9 in 2016. This would represent a 12 game turnaround for the BoSox
randomness lez
Those mean old Orioles with their physicals and whatnot signed their man.
