Players only seem to win the close cases,. The cases with bigger spreads seem to always go to the teams. Maybe my perception is off though. It would be interesting to see a summary of actual cases decided by arbitrators

I’m surprised the Giants are low-balling Belt; he’s worth way more than 5.3 M. He’s a really good player who gets overshadowed by the superstars on his team (Posey, Bumgarner, Pence) but Belt has turned himself into a very good first baseman with power and walks. His career OPS+ is 126 and he’s coming off a 4-win season.

I agree, but he doesn’t really fit into their long term plans with Posey needing to move to first in the next few years. I highly doubt they resign Belt when he hits free agency.

Hill figures to get regular work at 3B at least until the arrival of Orlando Arcia which might prompt a move to 3B for Jonathon Villar. Against LHP, it’ll either be Hill moving to 2B and Hernan Perez playing 3B or Perez playing 2B and Hill at 3B. Rule 5 guy Colin Walsh figures in if he can make the team out of spring training though Hill’s acquisition makes that less likely. Perez is not on 40 man right now, but his versatility and ability to play SS make him a likely utility guy. over other guys in the mix.
