Jacob deGrom for Erick Aybar
chri
I’m only doing that if the Braves throw in Matt Marksberry too.
RunDMC
Lol. Indeed, well played. NYM actually has SS depth. No need to do anything. Watch Tejada play out of his mind.
chri
heck yea we do! two top 100 prospects in the system (Rosario and Cecchini) and a serviceable utility player in Matt Reynolds.
But ask any Mets fan, and they will tell you that Tejada has 9 lives.
Since 2013 started, he had a season with a .519 OPS, gets optioned to the minors, loses his starting job to Omar Quintanilla!!!, gets called out numerous times by his manager and GM over a poor work ethic, loses his starting job (again) to Wilmer Flores, regains said job, loses it again when Flores becomes a folk hero.
Then all of a sudden, Tejada is starting a playoff game against Clayton Kershaw, becomes a folk hero in Queens (#winforruben signs at Citi field) after having his leg broken (he got a huge ovation from the crowd at pregame introductions), is rumored to be non-tendered or DFA’d all offseason, is the source of numerous trade rumors and on a roster bubble this whole spring.
And here we are on March 11, 2016 and Ruben Tejada may just be the opening day shortstop for the Mets. Somehow, the most hated Met over the last few seasons, is once again the starting shortstop.
End rant.

Nice recap, but I don’t think that he’s been the most…well, hated is a strong word, so I’ll say disliked.

Well played.

Is it not lunacy to keep speculating on a trade in reaction to a short term injury that occurs in spring training? Am I alone in thinking it is?
chri
I seriously doubt the Mets do anything because of this injury. Today is March 11, if all goes well, he will be doing baseball activities again by March 25. Opening day is April 3, that gives Asdrubal 9 days to be ready for the start of the season. I would say he likely only misses a handful of games at worst.

Deven Marrerro for Matz?
Mets get their SS of the future, a decent hitter and GG defender, and the Sox get rotation depth.
chri
Amed Rosario is a top SS prospect in the Met system. Granted he had a ~.650 OPS in the FSL in 2015, but he was only 19 years old. Almost every scout thinks he can stick at SS in the long run, and Keith Law said he could be a top 10-20 prospect if the bat breaks out this year.

Rotation depth? Matz would instantly become the #2 starter on the Sox. He is a future Cy Young winner.

You should be a gm someday, there’s no way anyone would turn down your trade offers. Harvey for jbj, marrero and that guy they don’t have anymore on Milwaukee smfh
metsoptimist
Who is this Marrero guy, and why do you keep including him in your unrealistic trade proposals?
bosox90
He’s a future utility glove that this troll seems to think is a top prospect.
@kylerobizzle
Jose Reyes would be an EXCEPTIONAL candidate to take over at SS for the Mets. I’m pretty sure his remaining contract is minimal and I don’t think there is any kind off field issue or pending criminal charges that would be a problem. Just saying, as a Rockies’ fan I’d sure hate to see him go, but I understand the necessity.

yea and Reyes would finally get a change of scenery he so desperately needs, he’d be playing for a fanbase he’s never seen before with the Mets

He will get a change of scenery…a cell

Tough ST for ex-Indians SS’s. Wish Cabby & Peralta speedy recoveries.
