A few years ago who’d have thought he’d be 31 years old and temporarily out of baseball recovering from injuries, having been demoted to the pen due to ineffectiveness.

I remember he rejected the 5/100 offer before the 2012 season, “settling” for 2/40. He was in the bullpen by the start of that title run. Maybe he’s secretly holding out for an injury to occur in San Fransisco. His peak came just before social media really blew up so his “star” power never really reached peak levels that you see now.

I hope Nathan can come back and get some outs for someone for another year or two. For a few years there he was as good as it got… every bit as effective as Mariano.
