Can’t say I’m a big fan of the “They’d be willing to cut the bait” since its said for almost every overpaid player. Ryan Howard, Jose Reyes, and Pablo Sandoval(even when healthy) are much worse than Ubaldo has been/can be, and Jose Reyes beat a woman and doesn’t have a spot when he comes back. If the Orioles had 4 aces sitting down in Triple-A (laughable, I know), I bet they would just move Ubaldo to the pen not just simply cut him. When Sandoval lost his job to Shaw the Red Sox didn’t just cut him, and they actually have the resources to eat that money. Just saying I’m not a big fan of this “if they don’t produce just eat the money” mentality I see on here a lot.

Eating the money makes sense if you are mid-year or later at the end of a contract. And, theoretically, it could make sense for roster management–25 and 40 man, But generally I agree.

Ubaldo will go down as one of the worst signing in Orioles history

It really is time for baseball scouts to start ignoring height. I’m so tired of reading over and over how they’re so baffled how a 5’9″ guy can be good at pitching or hitting for power. It does not matter – and never did. Baseball is for everyone, its a game where anyone, no matter what body they have, can do anything well. It’s why its the best game.

I totally agree. I heard so much about how Marcus Stroman would never be able to pitch because of his height and now look at him. Also look at Altuve, he has a crap load of home runs this year and he’s like 5 foot 5.

Don’t have any more starting options? They have Dylan bundy, Edgar olmos, Vance Worley, Samuel deduno, wandy Rodriguez, David hale and odrisamer despaigne in the bullpen and in triple A. Plus John danks, Aaron Harang, Jerome Williams and lots more decent number five rotation pieces in free agency. Not stars but doesn’t sound like they don’t have any starting options.

Of those you mentioned, I would want none in my rotation

I agree that there are other pieces the O’s could use instead of Ubaldo. Worley has pitched exceptionally well this year out of the pen as long relief so I think it would make sense to switch him to the rotation and put Ubaldo in the pen.

If it was august and Dylan was stretched out enough then you try a start after 6 or 7 days rest. This is his first season of pitching in 2 years. He’s like a Ford. Runs great when nothing’s wrong but put a little too much pressure on it. Bam!!!

Wrong about nine times over. Bundy is not ready to be a starter. Of the rest of they people you mentioned, only Worley is a viable option. The rest of those are even more terrible choices than Ubaldo.
