$150MM sounds very low — I wouldn’t guess Strasburg will get less than Greinke did.

Considering he is a former TJ patient and only has one 200 inning season, I doubt he gets over $150 mil let alone over what Greinke got. Zimmermann set the record last year for a TJ patient with $110 million so strasburg would need a 0.50 ERA to get a significantly larger contract

I agree with your reasoning, but
Someone will pay, They always do.

If he hits 200 innings this year, with over 200ks, and an ERA under 3, all of which seem very possible, I’d say $250m is his floor.

Strasburg gets 5 years/$135,000,000

Yankees would sign for that. Better than Ellsbery contract. I think he will get more than that.

I cannot imagine that the yankees will go hard after him and even overpay to start rebuilding the starting staff. Given the state of their roster and the expiring contracts, the same can be said for Bryce Harper.

So shutting down Strasburg for the playoffs helped the Nationals win a world series in 2012? No,
Since? No,
Develop any good will to help at FA? No.
Next time you should use what you have available.

Strasburg gets six years at $168 – someone will pay. Agree with Homer, I prefer the “win now” mentality. Strasburg was mishandled that year. Why don’t teams incorporate extended spring training and skipped starts in May-June-July as opposed to the mid-September shutdown? Poor planning. Rest early, available late – simple.

Can Mattingly manage a lineup or a bullpen yet?
