Now there is an exciting trade.

But wait, there’s more. Sources report that the teams are also exchanging water coolers

In the land of the Red Sox, every prospect in any of their levels is considered “significant” and a sure fire star in the waiting.
Just another of their crash and burns.
Won’t GM’s wise up already about the over hype!

You know the Red Sox line up? You know, the one that leads baseball in all hitting categories? Yeah? That line up only consists of players that were Red Sox prospects at one time: Betts, Bogaerts, Bradley, Holt, Hanley, Vazquez, Pedroia, Shaw. Only Ortiz wasn’t home grown.

And I thought every Red Sox prospect is a cant miss prospect. How did Middlebrooks, Nava, Lavarnway, Doubrontm and Westmoreland work out?. I am sure if I think hard I can come up with 10 more that where at one time said to be top prospects.

No one considered Nava a can’t miss prospect or for that matter a prospect at all. He was an undrafted FA who was signed for a buck and when he made it to the majors everyone was stunned that he was ab average player for a while. As for Westmoreland, the guy had brain cancer or something similar. Hardly fair to call him a failed prospect. As for Ranaudo he was at a time considered to be possibly a top 3 draft pick. So he wasn’t just a well regarded Red Sox prospect at one time, he was an overall well regarded prospect.
The simple fact is for EVERY team more prospects fail or don’t reach their expectations. Show me one team’s top 10 list where everyone worked out exactly as expected or better.
People get focused on the Red Sox because we have a larger fan base which means proportion of fans who believe everyone will turn out at or above expectations is larger as well.

Well said.
Large market team with large media exposure has prospects talked about more than small market team with less media exposure, shocker.

You dont have to agree with me.

Which is why I made several points in replying to you.

Lol *facepalm*
theo2016
The hate is so strong in you. Boaegarts, Betts, jbj all turned in to above average players.
dlevin11
Add Travis Shaw to that list

Does it ever get tiring, having to constantly take your foot out of your mouth?

“Remember that guy who pitched absolutely terribly against us? No not Holland. The guy who couldn’t throw a strike to save his life. Yeah, Ranaudo! Let’s trade for him!”

coop probably saw something in him that he could fix. like he fixed the problem with dumb dumb danks.

The obvious reason the Rangers made this trade was less to do with how Matt Ball the player can help the ball club and more to do with how he can help as a trade chip at the deadline. The more quality low level talent the Rangers can get there hands on now (for basically nothing) the less top end talent they will have to surrender in whatever big trade John Daniels cooks up at the Trade Deadline!!! Very Shrewd!!!

None of the currents ones are much good…..Betts, Borgaerts, Bradley, Vasquez….. Right? Bueller, Bueller….

Getting more than a half empty pack of gum for Ranaudo is a win! Good job, JD.
Selkies
Didn’t he have a few pretty good outings last year for Texas? Was that him or Chi Chi Gonzalez? I remember one of them looked pretty good.
nrd1138
I have faith in Don Cooper, Maybe Coop saw a flaw or knows what he can do to get something out of him, at least for work out of the bp (which the Sox really need right now)
RyanR
Pretty sure your thinking of Chi Chi. Kinda strange the White Sox lit him up the other night then traded for him.
Priggs89
Like nrd said, that just makes me think they saw some sort of flaw that Coop thinks he can fix. Otherwise, the move makes no sense.
