The Cubs Achilles heel is rearing its ugly head!
ChiSoxCity
The Cubs have all the attributes of a 2nd tier heavy weight boxer–a devasting hook, glass chin.
Jorge Soler Powered
At least they will never have a major bellyflop like the White Sox have already done.
cubsfan2489
The Cubs have a weak spot. And guess what, they’ll address it correctly! Trust Theo and company to fix it instead of Kenny and Rick, who’d just throw any decent prospects they have left (Fulmer) at a guy who makes no sense!
babycubsW
Weren’t you guys like 20 and 6 out of the gate?
babycubsW
And if the Cubs are a second tier heavyweight, the pale hose are a sickly fly weight!

Oh ChiSoxCity … You are so jealous … So envious …. Of the mighty Cubs … So sad … To see all your south side hatred … So pathetic

What’s the Cubs’ Achilles heel? Winning 50 games before the halfway point of the season? What bums.
Only ignorant fools are talking about the Cubs recent “struggles” acting as if they are collapsing a la White Sox style. They are 10-10 in their last 20 games. They win tonight (Lester is looking to pitch a CG shutout) and they’ll be 15-11 this month. With one more game in this Cinci series and then a game against the Mets who have been struggling as well (9-11 in their last 20 games….. 11-13 for the month) the could easily close out June on a mini-4 game winning streak and finish June 17-11. If 17-11 is the Cubs’ “bad” month….. I’ll take it. Again, you want to see a collapse, look no further than the White Sox. Started 23-10 this year. Currently a mediocre 38-38…… or a 15-28 record since their hot start. 13 games UNDER .500 over a stretch of games is considered a collapse. Being .500 over their last 20 games and still over .500 for the month….. HARDLY a collapse. Cubs are currently 14-11 in June (looking to be 15-11). EVEN if they blow tonight’s game, lose to Cinci tomorrow AND lose to the Mets on Thursday……. they’d STILL be 14-14 for the month. While not nearly as good as they have been, not exactly a horrendous month. Pretty sure the White Sox would kill for a .500 month right now, hahaha. They’re 10-13 this month. Lucky for them they have 3 games agains the Twins to close out the month, but I doubt they can win all 3.

Boston needs to focus on pitching…. Get some young arms in here…. You don’t need over aged players with big contracts
Ray Ray
You think Xander Bogaerts is in need of a breather after starting 57 straight games? You must have thought Cal Ripken needed a two month hibernation after his 2600+ straight games starting.
johnsilver
That was before the time of boras as an agent and him whining about everything possibly conceivable with regards to “his” players. Who knows, maybe Boras wants to take bogey out on a dinner date tomorrow and plot arbitration strategy during the next game boston plays instead? boras sticks his nose into every other team’s affairs.

Xander is 23
Ray Ray
That just means he has even more energy.
aggee10
Did you not watch the Texas series? He made two silly errors. Not everyone can play like ripkin…….
notagain27
Dombrowski was seen with a phone in each ear during tonight’s game. There is some kind of sellers market heating up.
aggee10
Or he could have been on the phone with wife and side chick.

Best comment here. And I’m a Red Sox fan!

Just another white sox fan that their team is underachieving yet again.

Teheran won’t come cheap…
krillin
As a Braves fan, I sure hope you are right. He has such a team friendly contract that it would be a shame if they did not get a something close to the Shelby Miller deal. Although, I doubt the Braves could pull in another haul like that one.
KB R.
But, as predicted by yours truly, the Diamondbacks got the MAJOR raw end of the Miller deal. People with any sense saw that a mile away. Teheran has an equally shaky past. But, he is cheap, so to speak, for the next 3 years with a club option on the 4th year. That said, Inciarte is playing like a bum, and Aaron Blair has been laughably bad so far….. but he’s young. You still have Dansby Swanson but he’s been mediocre since he came over and playing for the Braves system (hitting like .250 I believe with a mediocre OBP). Still, at the time you got an above average fielding ML outfielder who was coming off a SOLID offensive year. He’s also only 25 years old. Then you got a promising young pitcher in Blair, who had solid minor league numbers and was near ML ready. THEN you got one of the top prospects in the game in Swanson. All for Gabe Speier and Shelby Miller. A minor league reliever and a SP who had a seemingly luckily low ERA considering his peripheral stats. Teheran has an eerily similar past to Miller. And with his 2.46 ERA but a 3.70 FIP one has to assume he can’t be on a much better path than Miller. If I were the Braves, yeah, I’d be selling sky high on him ASAP. But as an outsider looking in. If my team needed pitching I would pass on him. Or at least offer up what I think/know what he’s worth. Hint: nowhere NEAR what the Braves got for Miller.

Sad day. I was pulling for ole Ike
