That was extremely quick. I would think they’d like to get him in the system quickly to avoid a layoff for him working on his defense. If they were looking for a college bat to rush through the system, I’d think they would opt for a guy like Will Craig.

How does Collins agree to terms but still be able to play in the super regional against BC? It was my understanding that the NCAA doesn’t differentiate very much between agreeing to terms of a contract and signing a contract.

Can he still play for Miami? They are starting super regionals today.

Not sure Collins would be allowed to “sign” yet, as the U is still playing ball at the moment. But I guess a verbal or a wink and a nod agreement with pen and paper ready as soon as the ‘Caines are through. In any event, the Sox need good news these days, and signing their top pick would be good news.
