Boston’s Asking price? A bag of balls was to much ?
start_wearing_purple
Heh, I was thinking the same thing. Dombrowski must not have been happy with the counter of a bag of sunflower seeds.
bravesred 2
A bag of balls and bag of sunflower seeds are too much for him. I’m thinking maybe one card from the dollar store.
Speak da Truth
You joke around and laugh. But Buchholz has a good chance to turn it around as much as anyone. He pitched 3 shut out innings today.
Look at A’s Sonny Gray who thought his era would be where it is. So nothing surprises me anymore. Players have bad seasons it baseball. Don’t lose site of that. Players suck one year and have MVP seasons the next.
Dwalt
I actually would like to see him turn it around. I just don’t see that happening in Boston, he needs the overused change of scenery.

Was at the game where Buchholz pitched yesterday. I was wondering “why isn’t anyone warming up in the bullpen?” Two seconds later, Buchholz starts warming up. “Oh great…” But he actually was doing pretty well. It was a pleasant surprise. By the time he was done most of us were wondering, “Who is this guy on the mound, and what’d he do to Clay Buchholz?!”
greenmonsternews
I know, right?! They can have him for free.

Jays need a lefty reliever ..the still prusuing Logan?
Ray Ray
I wish the Jays had traded for Logan before today.

Oh I know. I was just being a bit snarky because Logan gave up a game winning 3 run homer today.
jleve618

Santana has a big contract, but would be a decent pick up.
FLMarlins4LiFE
Idk know how the Marlins are going to pull it off but we need Helickson!
Trade Niccolino
Or Trade Ureña
Plus a Triple A pitcher that throws gas and let’s get into the playoffs. It’s now or never Loria!

Red Sox probably weren’t willing to pick up Buchholz’s salary for the rest of the year. That’s all I can think of, because they’re certainly not in the position to ask for anything but a 10-15 prospect and anther piece with question marks. Something like what they got for Peavey would be my guess.
Ray Ray
I don’t even think they could get what they got for Peavy. Hembree and Escobar were both decent prospects at the time. Escobar was a top 100 guy in fact, regardless of the fact that he didn’t pan out. I wouldn’t give up the equivalent of Hembree/Escobar right now for Buchholz. Their best bet might be a change of scenery type trade, perhaps swapping him for Jon Niese.
mookiessnarl
They’re pretty much the same exact situation. Both have/had the same amount of control and both used to be descent and are now fairly bad. And both were/ would be moving the the NL from the AL East. I don’t see a huge difference between them. As a matter of fact Buch was actually decent last season and it had been two seasons since Peavey had last posted an era under 4. They are more alike than you think. Don’t get me wrong, the results will likely be the same for Buchholz as Peavey, but the value of players exchanged should be about the same too.
johnsilver
The pitchability and talent sways toward Bucholz, tho grind and what it takes to get it done goes to Peavey by a mile.
Do have to give it to the last several Sox front office personel They have done a fair job of turning several of the pitching failures into decent prospects other teams had given up on. Hembree, Marco Hernandez for Doubrant.
Phillies2017
Rockies should just trade what they can. I mean, they won a few, but the Phillies were 10 over at one point this season. They arent ready and should get what they can out of Cargo, Blackmon and Logan.

Ryan Merritt for Boone Logan
