BoldyMinnesota
That Storen-Revere trade turned out being a disaster for both teams
Ray Ray
The Nats are in first place. Regardless of Revere’s accomplishments or lack thereof, it is hard to call any move they have made a disaster.
BoldyMinnesota
It’s ok to be in first place and still admit to making bad trades. Baltimore signed ubaldo, gallardo, Boston signed Sandoval, Texas traded for fielder.
Indyjuster
Signing Strasburg to that gigantic contract was/is a disaster.
kbarn26
A real disaster was Boston signing Carl Crawford to the giant contract.

‘a closer look at the offense, which is ranked 25th in the majors in OPS, points out the weakness — which is in the corner outfield.’.
‘Andrew Friedman says that the team is focused on acquiring “elite-level” players.’
equals Ryan Braun.
BlueSkyLA
Assuming Friedman means what he says, which hasn’t exactly been a safe bet in the past.
In any case I have a hard time believing in the unbelievable. The bullpen is the other priority. Plenty of deadwood to be cleared out there. Oh, and a real #2 starter would be nice since the one we got is pretty far from elite.
IAmNumber_4
I agree wit Ryan Braun to LA
Blue_Painted_Dreams_LA
That’s assuming ownership allows then to add such significant payroll that’s a risky and probably inaccurate assumption.
BlueSkyLA
True, which is one of the reasons why I don’t believe anything Friedman says.
paddyo fuhnichuh
Or blockbuster: Braun, Lucroy, Guerra, Jeffress OR Smith for Puig, Grandal, & prospect package like Cotton, Buehler, Estevez & Farmer.
paddyo fuhnichuh
Too late to edit,.. I’d rather see them make that deal sans Braun & Puig..
Stick with Puig as he turns it around in the 2nd half as getting Braun would be a move the 90’s Dodgers organization made only to watch it play out miserably.
Braun’s durability will likely continue to be an issue as his body suffers long term effects of earlier hormone treatment.
ryanisntcreative
How is the Giants biggest need not their bullpen? The rotation may limp into the playoffs, but they need somebody dominant on the back end..
sfjackcoke
Elite talent is Lucroy however his combo of talent and contract make his trade value substantially more than Braun’s where assuming $$$ lessens the prospect return. Dodgers seem to value prospects more than luxury tax and arguably more than they do the MLB club too. I mean the Dodger’s passed on Cole Hammels, an elite talent, at last year’s trade deadline when that team was much better set up for a long post season run than this year’s. Actions not words.
raef715
Ben Revere not getting on base out of the leadoff spot. Who would have thunk it?
seems like Melvin Upton would fit the Dodgers pretty well, and the Dodgers and Padres have managed to deal before.
alfredog
I would love the marlins to get Jesse Hahn from Oakland still young and controllable
timyanks
reyes isn’t even on the cardinals 40 man roster. that gives st louis plenty of options wih him. bring him up for a spot start or so. he’s already stretched out to start, why put him in the bullpen?
cardfan2011
Agreed, Id like to see him start
stl_cards16 2
Only way that happens is an injury to the rotation. He’ll be an asset in the bullpen and would be a liability in the rotation right now.
timyanks
no since putting him in the pen. what happens if he goes to the pen and then later in season they need a starter? spot starting sounds better.
JFactor
He’d see instant success in the minors, facing guys once in awhile and never twice in a day.
Cards need relief help, he’d be the best reliever they could acquire.
It’s an obvious match if they feel he is emotionally developed and ready.
Physically, he’d be a great reliever down the stretch.
alfredog
Maybe a Florez pineyro could get a deal done for Hahn
kellygrubersmullet29
What about Bautista to the Dodgers for prospects? Then the jays could flip prospects for pitching help. Seems like it could work out for both teams.
jimttu
Not bad actually
bleacherbum
Should be interesting to see how the Gurriel signing effects the 3rd base market. Gotta figure that Escobar & Valencia are at the top of the list now, with Plouffe and Solarte not too far behind. But no that Houston has filled their void that only leaves Cleveland, Miami, New York Mets & possibly the Giants/ Royals due to injuries to Duffy and Moustakas as viable teams that might add to the position as of now
jackblue411
Regarding Ben revere: “On base percentage is good, but RBIs are better.” -Dusty Baker
Ray Ray
I realize you are trying to be snarky, but Ben Revere only has 17 RBIs.
Indyjuster
How about the Astros shipping Scott Feldman and Josh Fields to the Mets for Max Wotell + PTBN or cash? That would give the Mets bullpen and/or a veteran starter help and would clear up two 40 man roster spots for the Astros for Bregman and Gurriel.
degrom4mvp48
Why can’t the Mets just get Lucroy
