I could see the Indians giving up either Frazier or Zimmer for Lucroy. Frazier and Chang might get it done.

I was saying for the past three years that the Indians should screw with there prospects and get a star player, and doing it this year would actually make me mad. To me I think they’ve waited to long to trade them so they should just wait until next year when Frazier and zimmer will be ready. Just imagine Cleveland’s outfield if they keep them for 2017.
Michael Brantley LF/CF
Tyler Naquin CF/RF
Lonnie Chisenhall RF
Bradley Zimmer CF
Clint Frazier CF
And if we want to we can resign Rajai Davis for another year.
That’s a hell of an outfield.

Idk I just hope we keep Zimmer and Frazier and if we do 2017 is gonna be fun for the Indians

I know things can get a little testy here but this is ridiculous.

Are the padres trying to spend a billion on intl amateurs? If only the spent that money on young quality free agents like heyward or upton (although upton is struggling) instead of trading for kemp
astros_fan_84
Even with Heyward and Upton, they would still be terrible. If you’re a Padres fan, just accept that they’re going to be non-contenders for at least 2 more years. Once you get over that, you’ll be able to enjoy the rebuild.

Easier said than done for long-suffering Padres fans.
astros_fan_84
Long suffering fans need to decide if they want to win games now or win the division later.
Be happy that you have a GM and ownership that’s willing to take the hard road. In four years, when you have a bunch of young studs and a contending you’ll be very happy with the choices your team made.

I agree. The idea right now is to just rebuild the farm system and start from the ground up. There’s nothing wrong with that, and Preller has been doing a good job so far brining in prospects. Besides, the international market is his specialty, so it makes sense that he wants to go for a lot of international signings.

Heyward: .228/.318/.315 – $184M
Upton: .235/.289/.387 – $132.57M
Padres spent just over $60 mil in international free agents this year and could potentially get several quality players during their cheap controllable years.

I love when you hit them with the cold hard facts and they just disappear. Numbers don’t lie, The Padres are already stuck with 2 Albatross contracts in Kemp & Upton Jr. and the remedy suggested by this fan is that we should have signed Heyward and J. Upton lol. First of all you can only have 3 outfielders on the field at a time so I don’t know where you expect one of them to play. Secondly, just stop. Preller is absolutely, 100% doing the right thing for this Franchise. Tearing the farm system down and rebuilding it the correct way.
Grey Suit
Upton Jr is not really an albatross anymore.
Upton is on pace to generate a WAR of 2.5 this year which is worth about $17.5 mil.
youknowit
Kemp trade is constantly blown out of proportions by saber geeks. Kemp provided star power, actual offensive power and was part of a team identity shift: always playing safe to swinging for the fences and optimal ceilings. WAR overrates guys like Grandal and undervalues guy’s like Kemp but that’s not the point is Padres are doing the right thing stacking young talent and letting competition determine who gets the call. When they finally are good they’ll have so much depth they’ll be able to trade for any need. Preller is a genius.

What, so Upton is struggling, but Heyward hitting .220 is a bargain?
And why would you throw money at either of those guys when Margot is a 21yo CF showing all signs he’s ready to play at Petco, and our 24yo RF Hunter Renfroe is leading AAA in home runs while hitting .330?

Padres signing upton or heyward both overrated players would have been terrible for the now and the future. Thy will have a solid field of players soon. They just don’t have sh// for top line starters in the organization.
