Very well written and from an interesting perspective. Thanks for writing the article.
Growing up a Twins fan, I had a similar thing happen with loving them more but it was in the ALCS in 2002 when I was 12. I am too young to truly recall 1991 but the stories and highlights make me hope that the magic happens again in Minnesota sometime soon.

I grew up a Giants fan, when I was 6 I was standing near a rail of the front row down the first base line at Candlestick during BP. A foul ball went whizzing by my head… In an instant Jack Clark was next to me giving me a high-5 and yelling at my dad to watch out for me. Years later my dad told me he felt like he was the 6 y/o getting yelled at by an authority figure who was also our firstbaseman.
When I was 12 Paul Molitor hand picked me to be a batboy for the Brewers/Cubs spring training game in AZ. I got to hang out in the clubhouse with guys like Greg Vaughn & a rookie by the name of Gary Sheffield (who couldn’t have been nicer). I had to spend a moment in the Cubs dugout, I was greeted with a huge smile and handshake from a mountain of a man named Andre Dawson. Molitor gave me several game used autographed bats after the game & more baseballs than I knew what to do with. I will always be a diehard Giants man, with a strange connection to the Mil Brewers & Cubs

Of course they do. They follow the money. The better the team, the better the chances to go to the postseason and cash in.

Haven’t posted in a while but wanted to chime in about how much I enjoy reading these articles. This was a great idea and I’m hoping we see more players getting in on the action.

Have to agree these articles are great. Brings back memories if going to Sick’s Stadium to watch the Pilots play and the heartache of not understanding when they left to a 12 yo walking into Tiger Stadium while visiting my grandfather then getting the Mariners back and riding the Metro into the Kingdome as a HS kid watching some bad teams but loving it anyway. Keep it up it is good for us to remember the younger days.

Back in 1922 I went to the polo grounds and seen Whitey Shrimp shutout the White Sox 3-0 and that’s what started me on baseball

Ted Turner and TBS molded a legion of Braves fans across the US in the 90’s.. I was one of them. These days ATL is still my NL team (since I can remember) while the Red Sox are my AL team (since 2002)
