Unless they’re trying to improve his trade value this off season, I see no reason why the A’s would let Sonny Gray pitch again this year.

If he’s healthy why sit him just to sit him? I’m sure if he’s feeling better he wants the dam ball!

No point in putting more pitches on his arm in a lost season, especially one where he’s literally been the worst starter in the game among qualified pitchers.
youknowit
Padres should put innings on Ross arm and let him finish the season pitching. If he does they shouldn’t trade but extend and build their rotation around him. His 2017 salary will be around 10m but extend him before he hits free agency and he can be their bargain priced Ace?
Padres should also call up Simmons from AA and see if he can pitch in their rotation to start 2017. I like Friedrick and Rea at the back end if he returns behind Ross but not sure who else can give quality innings in 2017? Thinking Simmons can but doubt Perdomo, Clemens, and Kelly.

Look at Ross’ injury history, I would not bet on his health long term.

Padres kinda screwed the pooch on Ross’ trade value
