Breaking news: Dave Roberts is placed on the 15-day DL with severe case of face-palmitis.

Is it true the Dodgers DL team could win a pennant?
BlueSkyLA
Dunno about that but the Disabled Dodger rotation has to be the greatest ever.
bradthebluefish
Seems legit, especially with Kershaw leading the pack.

What an odd career McCarthy has had. This is his 11th year. Total of 1042 IP, 163 starts. Only two qualifying seasons. Lifetime ERA+ of 101, career bWAR of 10.5. ^ different teams. Through the balance of his current contract, earnings of $70M. Tantalizing when he is actually able to get on the mound.

As a Dodger fan it’s extremely frustrating with all these injuries and then we go and trade for an injured pitcher. The Dodgers should have the best trainers and physical therapists around yet somehow players are still getting silly injuries (strains and pulls).

Kinda off topic but I really hope Kazmir opts out. Stripling, Urias, and DeLeon will all be better options at this time next year.
Kershaw
Maeda
McCarthy
Urias
FA/Stripling/De Leon
should be a good rotation.

I dont see Kazmir opting out unless he strings together a much better second half.
BlueSkyLA
Little late for that considering we’re down to the final third of the season with no sign of improvement. The Dodgers figure to be stuck with him.
BoldyMinnesota
With such a weak free agent class he actually might. Rich hills the only one who is clearly better than him.

Yea I don’t see him staying. I’m pretty sure he knew he was going to opt out regardless of his production this year. He will be basically the best arm out there. I think the Dodgers will trade Puig and get a back of the end guy like maybe James shields.
BlueSkyLA
His option is a guarantee of $17.7M for each of his age 33 and 34 seasons. I realize salaries are constantly inflating, especially for starting pitching, but that’s way more than journeyman money for less than journeyman performance.

Agreed, I don’t think he will opt out, especially with how this season has played out so far. I seriously doubt he could get $17M on the open market, and even then with this being a down year, he may not be able to get more than two years as teams may think this may be the beginning of a downward spiral as he is not young anymore.
