Brad Ausmus is playing with fire here. No one wants a strausburg situation but it may ruin the clubs future… Considering the tigers have a weaker farm system I would think maybe keeping a valuable piece healthy would be the right choice. Also there isn’t proof of not going over an innings limit being detrimental? Harvey?

There is no magic arm is going to fall off number. I think it should be considered but you also have to look at stress pitches innings worked from the slide step and previous injury history as well

I hate when people say Ausmus is playing with fire, he’s not in all honesty. A pitcher should not be shut down due to innings they should be shut down for pitches thrown
Fulmer also throws the least amount of pitches per start (minimum 6 inning outing) in the AL, he’s also got a bunch of rest between starts, sometimes up to a week before the playoff push, now they are treating him like a true starter.

I think pitching shifting away from location, change ups, and curveballs to velocity, sliders, and cutters has way more to do with TJ surgery than how many innings a guy pitches.

Maybe if Sano lost the 40lbs the Twins asked him to lose last winter, his back wouldn’t be hurting now??
