Wow… The Mets SPs really got hit with the injury bug this season. It’s kind of a surprise that they’re even in contention at this point.
In any case, all three NL Wildcard contending teams look weak, especially having to face the Cubs in the division series. Mets won’t have 3 shutdown SPs, Giants bullpen is faltering, and the Cardinals are just too inconsistent (don’t run the bases well, or play solid defense).
Will be interesting to see if the Mets can hold on to a W.C spot.

Mets are DOA vs Cubs…Joe Maddon won’t lose to them again.

Masson doesn’t play baseball- Bryant, Rizzo and Lester do.

Lol, this guy.

Lol. Always gotta be at least one of those guys in every comments section.

Really going out on a limb there, picking the stacked team to beat the trash team. I mean, duh. The mets are DOA against everyone in the playoffs.
The Mets starting rotation is a shell of what it was this time last year, and that was supposed to be their strength. They let Murphy walk, his replacement is done for the year, they’ve got corner outfielders playing centerfield, and James freaking Loney playing first base.
hojostache
This is sadly accurate.
I think that if the Mets can get into the playoffs….they have a puncher’s chance against the Cubs, The Mets won the season season series 5-2, which is the best winning % of any NL team that played the Cubs this year.
The Mets can hit (HR at least) and their BP has really stepped up in the past month with Salas, Reed, and Family as the 7/8/9 and Blevins as the LOOGY (even though he can face both L & R batters). It’s too bad the Mets are down Harvey, de Grom, Wheeler, and have a gimped up Matz.

It’s a short series and this is baseball. While they are not gonna be favored to win the series, I’d never count any team out
donmar2001
Lol James freaking Loney

The mets are just like the angels in that they don’t know how to take care of their young pitchers arms. I mean look at wheeler he may have to go under the knife again and possibly lose him for 2 more years and the mets will be lucky if half of the rotation is back healthy for spring training

I’ll let you in on a little secret, it’s not just the Mets and Angels.
Every team in baseball is bad at keeping young pitchers healthy.

There dropping like flies. Is colon the only good one left?

Remember when everyone lauded the Mets because they swept the Cubs? Theo and co just proved why you take hitting in the drafts. Way more projectable. Even guys like Baez, who is super utility player, have much more of a role than a stud pitcher on the DL. The team the Cubs should be worried about is the Giants. Still have Bum and Cueto (both of whom own Rizzo) and their bullpen can get hot at any point in postseason. The Cubs need to keep their hitters in the lineup… Guys like Kris, Rizzo, addy, Heyward, fowler, have had rest the whole year. I would hate for them to start out cold in the postseason because they haven’t had weeks of hitting in.

You could put Heyward on the sun and his bad would still be cold. Terrible overpay

SF is scary because of MadBum, Cueto, and their stupid luck in the playoffs. The Cubs are…by far…the most complete team this year, though in a short series they are vulnerable to dominant starting pitching. The Mets are definitely the most flawed of the teams left in contention, but they keep finding pitching and they can get scary hot at the plate (besides Bruce…whom is getting crushed under the bright lights of NYC).
