Outstanding news for the Reds. I wonder at what level he’ll start 2017.

I’d guess he’ll go to winter ball now, then rookie ball in the spring. He’s the age of a college draftee, so his timeline is similar.

I said when we signed Alfredo Rodriguez that his signing only made sense if the Reds signed another 1-2 top international prospects, and Gutierrez is indeed that.
My guess is he starts around AA and spends 1-2 years in the minors, making it to the Majors in mid- to late 2017 or sometime in 2018. Based on the scouting report from this article alone, I would guess he could have the ceiling of a #2 starter with a floor of being a solid but unspectacular reliever.

I’m looking for any kinds of positives for the team….and this is another one that checks off nicely. I know we’re looking at Wild-card runs within a few years, so his timeline fits well. About my wild-card comment….yeah. That’s as good as it will get for a very long time, as long as Theo is running the Cubs.

“At least check, earlier this month”
I was always of the opinion that it was, at last check….
