Orioles still did bad in developing pitching talent no matter what
Aoe3
Good point. The Jays drafted and developed current starting pitchers Sanchez and Stroman. They have been huge in the last 2yrs.

The O’s drafted and developed current starting pitchers Gausman and Bundy, so what is your point?
RoadRunner1938
His point is Jays have done a way better job than the O’s! Any team would take Sanchez & Stroman over Gausman & Bundy!

Glad Liriano is ok. That easily could have resulted in a major injury
Doc Halladay
I still can’t believe he walked off the field. That ball has destroyed by Gomez and caught Liriano flush on the back of the head.

I am not surprised by Joyner getting let go. Miggy and VMart did not have their typical years. The ability to hit in the clutch seemed lost. Upton was terrible for the first 5 months of the season. Iglesias, McCann, Saltalamacchia (after April), and Collins, most of them young players who you would expect to respond to coaching, all had terrible seasons. Maybe it was Joyners idea to leave, but I would have been shocked to see the entire staff return after a disappointing season. They just changed the pitching coach last year, and this year the young starters did well, and the bullpen improved (still a long way to go). Clark and Vizquel are too well respected. Someone was going and Joyner was odd man out.

Will be interesting to see what the “other” opportunities are for Joyner. A lot of Tiger fans think this is just a way of putting a nice spin on Joyner being forced out. I will take this at face value unless Joyner gets another MLB hitting coach job. By all accounts he did a decent job this past year.
