Why not, I’m sure he will be happy because he will play more.
Look at the cubs and how versatile they are. Absolutely nothing to lose.

Absolutely no player on the Cubs that they look at and have pitch, along with playing the field on a daily basis like the Pads would with him. Oh, and the Cubs versatile players, actually produce.

What does this even have to do with the cubs? This is about one specific player who happens to throw 96 which is why they want to try him out as a pitcher. I’m sure none of the cubs position players can throw 96

Might as well give it a go. Kenley Jansen wouldn’t be what he is today if he had remained a light hitting catcher

Compared to Derek Norris, Bethancourt was the Padres Johhny Bench this year. The most disturbing number for Bethancourt at the plate was his .368 slg. Most teams don’t expect the backup catcher to exhibit much in terms of BA, but they need to have pop in that bat.

Why bother making him a catcher, pitcher, outfielder. He’s not good enough to be their backup catcher teach him some mechanics and put him full time pitching he’s hitting 96.
