Great write-up.
I haven’t heard it mentioned yet, but a point that should get Fowler some special consideration from San Francisco is his .409/.458/.500 career line against Kershaw.
Also, sorry to nitpick: While I’m sure that he could spell Span, Martin, or Pederson in a most respectful manner, I believe the more correct word is “respectively”, instead of “respectfully”.

Thanks.
Ha, 734 CBA updates will do that to a man. I actually hovered over that for a moment, not knowing why, and then moved on. Thanks – fixed.

He will get 3 years 45 Million. Don’t call me wrong until it happens

That kind of scenario isn’t out of the question at all. But I tend to think there’s enough CF demand, and his bat has been good enough, that he’ll get what I believe to be more or less full market value — which, I think, is 4 years at $15MM or $16MM annually.
bsteady powers
He’d get more annually if he only gets 3 years.. 3-50?

Then he stays a cub

You go, Dexter! Can’t wait for your standing ovation for your first plate appearance back in Wrigley Field even though it won’t be with the Cubs.

Your son is my most favorite person in the world, you’ve done a terrific job.

Shhhh, don’t tell anybody… I’m really Vin Scully.

Too bad the White Sox weren’t bad enough to get a protected first rounder. As with last year, he makes a ton of sense (assuming they don’t end up rebuilding). No way they sign him and lose the pick though.

Above average offense,>=30 yrs old and average to below average defense in center… When is SF going to sign him?
wiggysf
But for left field instead.
pustule bosey
If they do sign him I would think it would be as a guy that can play all 3 positions. With pence and span aging and span’s under production he can slot anywhere and depending on span and pence’s health you could see a Parker, Fowler, Williamson happening from last to right.

I think you are spot on on the AAV, but I bet he finds that 5/80 deal. If it’s 4/64, I am guessing there would be an opt-out, and that’s only because nobody would give him the 5th.
I’m a cards fan, and I don’t really want him. I love Fowler as a player. But draft comp isn’t the Cardinal game, and I believe we still have talent coming a shift in the roster coming along. He’d have to be a 3 year deal for me to be happy with the cards getting him, and I assume he’ll have no problem beating that

I’ll be happy to see Dex get paid, he deserves it. He’ll be a Cub forever, and Chicago will support him no matter where he goes.

Dexter will have the best of both worlds, he will go to a contender of his choosing and finally get the contract he deserves. I wouldn’t be surprised if the team he goes to wins the world series, I’m thinking the Nats, Cards, or Indians.
Mikel Grady
World Series and cards in same sentence ?
Logjammer D"Baggagecling
He’ll get his 9one ring when he returns to Wrigley. Even with him gone the cubs will be the favorite to win the world series.

Cubs in 2016
WL% when Fowler starts: 80-38
WL% when Fowler does not start: 23-20
WL% during Fowler’s DL stint: 11-17
Small sample size, yes, but he was pivotal to their success.

Jays should forget about Edwin and try to land Fowler while also taking in on a contract to fill some of the needs.
e.g. Robertson and Abreu of the WS !!!
That would give the Jays a CL to pair with Osuna and a much needed 1B !!! After that they could also perhaps take on the contract of Rox’s Car-Go contract and it will give us the following line up !
1.Fowler RF
2.Travis 2B
3.Donaldson 3B
4.Abreu 1B
5.Gonzalez LF
6.Tulowitzki SS
7.Morales DH
8.Martin C
9.Pillar CF

I like it. Add $60 million and give up a ton of prospects we don’t have!
I think Fowler will be our big offseason addition and Atkins will do some dumpster diving to fill out the roster. Add Fowler, platoon player for Upton and Smoak, and hopefully spend some money At the back end of our pen.
