Mariners could have had Trout instead of this guy back in 2009
pd14athletics
Along with nearly every other team in baseball… he was the 25th pick!

Yeah and now the Angels have the #2 overall pick and the #25 pick (Trout) form that year. All 24 other teams were humiliated by their picks compared to Trout.
Turns my stomach as a Mariner fan…not that Angels have Ackley (who cares)…just all of us overlooked Trout and could have had him on our roster. Wow

The man that never was…

To be fair, once he got traded to the Yankees, he did pretty well; I think he hit about .280/330/360 or something slashline.

In his first stint he was replacement level if that. And in 2016 he was just awful.

I only really watched him in the outfield when he was in Seattle so I don’t know about his second base, but I remember having a terrible throwing arm so I don’t know if that affects his defensive stats. But he had really good range.

How could he have really good range if he had a terrible throwing arm?
redking
He can cover a lot of ground but can’t throw. Not the first player in history with those attributes.

Meant ackley

A can’t miss prospect that missed. He’s still fairly young though.

Ackley has come a long way since his days in the renowned baseball book “The Catcher in the Rye”.

So the Angels just signed their first Boras free agent since the ill-fated attempt to sign Teixeira.
Maybe there can be a Weiters deal after all.
