I’m thrilled that the Astros are a contending team with a top farm.

This isn’t meant as a knock against the Astros system because I think they’re org is one of the better ones. I’m just pretty surprised to see the Rays ranked #11, but the Astros ranked #3. I see a lot of similarities between the systems. Both have well balanced farms with 5 top 75 guys, a good mix of near MLB ready contributors and low level high ceilings, and lots of depth. Nevertheless a good time to be an Astros fan.

Same with the Mets! I’d love a Mets/Astros 86 rematch, but as a World Series!

If anyone has access to BA’s Spring prospect rankings can you please provide where the Padres landed on the list. Was thinking top 10 was a possibility.

Almost had it. They’re 9th this year.
MB923
Technically he did have it. 9th is in Top 10.

If by some miracle Daniel Bard can come back, it may be the comeback of all-time. In his 2014 and 2016 minor league seasons combined, he had 3-2/3 innings pitched, 22 walks, 12 hit batters and 21 earned runs allowed. Anything would be an improvement.

Sam Militello says hello. One-time Yanks prospect, hurt his shoulder and ended up posting 29 innings with 61 walks and 18 wild pitches after. Brien Taylor, one of the most highly touted prospects in baseball history, had a similar line after wrecking his shoulder: 110 IP, 182 walks, 60 wild pitches.

I remember Taylor. Wasn’t he the first guy to get a $1M signing bonus? Or $10M? Something like that. Then wrecked his shoulder in a bar fight. What a waste….

He set a record for a HS pitcher, 1.55 million, which is peanuts today. One of two 1st overall draft picks to never make the majors. (Steve Chilcott was the other).

When I was in HS our Firstbaseman got the yips. He just lost the ability to throw a baseball accurately. Very strange how the mind works.
