I thought Prince retired
GareBear
No he claimed that it was medical so that he can collect on his contract rather than retire and forfeit most if not all of his money. So Texas will be paying for him being on the DL until the contract runs out.
Steve Adams
“Claimed” it was medical? He had two significant neck surgeries in just over two calendar years. It’s not as if he’s nefariously swindling the Rangers.
amprelly
What word would you have rather him used?
vtadave
How about not posting the entire two sentences?
ottomatic
Just leave it out completely. Something like, “No it was a medical circumstance” or along those lines. “Claimed” makes it sound like it’s questionable whether he was actually injured
bearkat96
Hmmm…..when you involve your insurance you submit a what? Oh yeah, a CLAIM! It was claimed as medical so that insurance could pay a portion of the salary, you righteous ding dongs.

Have to say this made me LOL
baseball lover
Rangers pay 9 mil
Tigers 6 mil
Insurance 9 mil
Per year on Fielder contract
RickyAdams79
He’s didn’t retire. Had he retired he would have forfeited all money left on his contract. He’s on medically unable to perform list and today was 1st day they could put him on 60 day dl
layventsky
This. Placing him on the 60-day DL is merely a procedural move.
Asfan27
aren’t the tigers still paying some of his contract?
TheMichigan
Yep.
Well I’m pretty sure we’re forfeiting some cash
spider y banana
prince has to stay on the 40 man for insurance/payroll configurations. Semantics really
txphi_991
Going to the 60 day DL allows us to take him off the 40 man while still technically being on the team. That’s the difference in the 15 day and the 60 day

Hope Gamboa sticks with the Rangers: knuckleballers can really rack up the innings.
GoRav114
I heard the Orioles really wanted him but offered a minor league deal only.
crazy Jawa
Gamboa is not a free agent. He has no say in where he is going or what roll he will play. Unless he hates it and retires.

Rangers with another smart pickup if they can get him tuned up and in play or at least traded. #neverquit

Is Eddie Gamboa related to Tom Gamboa, the Royals coach who was attacked by the knife-wielding father-son White Sox fans on the field at Comiskey in 2002?
Tom Gamboa suffered permanent hearing loss, among other injuries. He reportedly will coach in the upcoming WBC.
