Any clues as to what this means for ownership?
altuve2017mvp
It means the team will go to auction and Jeffery loria will buy the team and again for no good reason trade Cabrera along with verlander and any really solid piece they have. I think he has it in for miggy

His son Chris Ilitch will now take over.

denistaylor don’t you have anything better to do than insult a dead person. He’s not even buried. Go crawl back into hole.

“Fans of many teams view their owners with suspicion, but Ilitch was a native Detroiter who proved his commitment to winning by repeatedly stepping up financially.”
If you are fan, I don’t think you can ask for more than that.

I agree, many fans would love to have an owner that wants to win at any cost

He obviously will leave ownership of this team and the Red Wings to his son, Chris.

Highly doubt Chris Ilitch will become the owner. He will continue to be the president and act as if he were owner, but Mike did leave behind a widow.
Mr Pike
Generosity, family, integrity. He was a credit to the game and the city of Detroit.
