I think every teams success hinges on their top rotation starters. Not just Astros. Our boys will be ready.
Connor Byrne
Indeed, but all teams’ top two starters aren’t coming off injury-shortened years. That’s the point I tried to make (hence the use of “bounce-back”).

How’s that mark appel trade looking now, jackass?
Astros2333
Looks good to me. VV is the only loss in that trade.
RunDMC
Good that Daniels is admitting the obvious. Glad Lewis Brinson got out alive. Is Nomar next?
GeauxRangers
I doubt it, he actually performed well last season. I think Odor was 19 or 20 when he got called up and he has been able to perform as well. Not always a 100% guarantee that a player won’t succeed if you call them up at a young age…
GeauxRangers
Not even to mention Elvis has been an everyday player in the big leagues since his age 20 season.
clk93085
Doubtful. Mazara is a stud and JD is a genius and has a plan for everything. Although I will say that Choo was a bust. Oh well…here’s to 2017! New season boys!! #neverquit

I actually wonder if one of those two with do something
Gallo or proffer, but I doubt it

Drunk?

Abad is just bad. It’s not like they gave anything up for him in Pat Light which is likely to come back and haunt them and a sixth of 2m is better than the full bit.
Robby Scott should be able to get just lefties out with Robbie Ross able to get both RH and LH batters. Let’s put and end to the Abad torture now please.

Live in New York and CBS sports line won’t allow me to play in fantasy baseball prize leagues . Anyone know of a site that allows ny players? It’s legal in ny now but seems CBS and ny state can’t reach an agreement
Connorsoxfan
Yahoo maybe? I do free stuff on ESPN but I do Yahoo contests for other sports that pay out $$ so it wouldn’t surprise me.
pantsonfire69
bullish

Said it the day the trade was made, and I’ll stand by it. Boston WAY overpaid for Thornburg.
bruinsfan94 2
Why? It’s March 5th, They gsve up Shaw who was awful in the second half and Moreland is a fine one year gap to Travis/devers. Douban is nice but cost of young pitching is high. Will be great eith smity when healthy
gofish 2
More players should take Noah Syndergaard’s stance: they are under contract with an MLB team and should focus their efforts on that, not the WBC.
Rbase
More players (particularly from the USA) should take Fernando Abad’s stance: being proud to represent their country in international play, an opportunity that only comes by once every four years.
ghost of harambe
Who cares about playing for their countries. Can’t wait until cuba wins and Americans start jumping out their windows
chesteraarthur
Americans, in large part, don’t care, that’s part of the problem with it.
Connorsoxfan
They should just do the WBC somewhere hot in January. Solves the ST issue.
pjmcnu
I hope most Americans would choose country over employer. And I’m a diehard Mets fan.
pjmcnu
I hope MLB (who is pushing the WBC) comes down hard on Farrell & any other team or managers that implies one of their players better stay in camp rather than represent their country or they might be sent down. I hate teams/managers that either don’t let their players play for their country (if they have the power – Farrell doesn’t so he’s passive aggressive about it), or make them feel terrible about it or make them fear for their livelihoods. It’s BS.
mookiessnarl
What’s Farrell supposed to say? It’s great that Abad has chosen a time where he’s on the cusp of making the team to leave and play in some exhibition games. It does hurt his ability to make the team. Would you have him lie about it? It’s tough to earn a spot when you’re not there to compete and show the team what you have. Most guys have the right attitude about the WBC. It’s nice if they can go, but if there’s absolutely any reason not to they should opt out. There are plenty of guys willing to play. Hanley didn’t go because he’s nursing an injury. Abad should have stuck around to earn his spot on the team. It’s his job. He’s not serving his country, he’s playing in some baseball games.
lesterdnightfly
“What’s Farrell supposed to say?”
How about “No comment.”
“Abad should have stuck around to earn his spot on the team. It’s his job. He’s not serving his country, he’s playing in some baseball games.
Seems that playing in baseball games IS his job. And he’s doing it for his country. What’s the problem with representing your homeland in your profession? It’s a personal choice.
ghost of harambe
Farrell is right though. If Abad misses ST and all the other lefties do well then it will make it harder for Abad to make the roster
tsolid 2
You act like Guys are sitting around on his couch eating pizza and drinking beer. Most vets go through the motions in ST anyway, so Abad pitching in WBC will prob be better reps for him
RedSox2017
Red Sox should trade Abad
Lego4365
For a bag of baseballs?
dlevin11
Maybe Twins would take Abad back for something.
