That Camden Yards story regarding Trumbo leading off sure is a hoot.. Remember when think it was Ralph Houk 1st started putting Dwight Evans into the leadoff position and the press was really giving it to him about how he’d put a 30HR guy there.. He just told them who wouldn’t want to start a game 1-0? Evans had the MLB for a little while on leadoff HR, think Hindu does now..
Evans always carried a .370-.400 OBP tho, cause he knew how to draw a walk, Trumbo doesn’t.. There is a BIG difference in putting a patient power hitter at the top and a hacker.
