Are teams looking further and further back for people long left on the discard pile now? This is the 2nd long tossed away guy for KC now released. Boston has Carlos Quentin.. That guy who hasn’t had a MLB AB in 2 full seasons on a MiLB deal, along with equally MIA of MLB time Erik Cordier in camp.
Is it trying to save a dime on salary, or legitimately thinking these old timers can help??

It seems beneficial to all parties to me. The teams get some vets who can maybe teach and work with a kid or two, and the vets get to play a game they love for a bit of money

Teams try to milk the last ounce of baseball talent out of players sometimes. Every now and then it works out. Nothing new here. This has gone on for awhile now.

I don’t see why a team wouldn’t take a chance on this kid, if he had no talent he wouldn’t have been drafted so high so I don’t understand why a rebuilding team would release a 22 year old.

He’s shown absolutely nothing since being drafted. They probably don’t want him taking at bats away from their other young guys
