I wouldn’t hate the idea of Harvey to XST. Would technically limit his innings.
kehoet83
That seems like the best option at this point.

Do you know how long XST is? I’m assuming it’s until end of April?

Many teams run an extended spring training until the start of short season ball, The NY=Penn League starts 6/19 for my local team.

Thanks!

I don’t understand all the concern. Power pitchers take longer to gain velo in spring, not to mention veteran pitchers like himself usually have lower velo in spring due to lack of real game adrenaline( just like the difference between throwing off indoor and outdoor mounds) he’s coming off surgery that effects nerves in the shoulder so it’s gonna take a little. He’s up to 96 now, if he was 89-90 still then be concerned.

Let him continue working on himself for at least half of April and bring him back in a game on the road, preferably a west coast game or something (don’t know their schedule off the top of my head). That way we limit innings, he gets more work, and he isn’t faced with all of New York in his first game or games back.

May first against the braves would do. In Atlanta. Warm. Weak team. Every possible way to help the dark night gain back his confidence.
