They had clear needs that they ignored, but I’ll give them a C because they didn’t completely over pay trumbo like I thought somebody was gonna.

Their pitching will always hold them back – they need at least one elite SP to lead them in the postseason, til then they will never get far.

I agree, they need that one star pitcher to get them over the bump. Until then, lock up machado, and possibly trade Britton for that star pitcher and resign Britton back when his contract is up (like an Aroldis Chapman). Getting money off the books is very understanding why they didn’t give Machado his check this year. Overall: B- Decent offseason, didn’t overpay for trumbo, didn’t overpay for a corner outfielder.

yeaaaaah, no one is trading a star pitcher for britton.

They can’t afford Machado, and I doubt he’s excited about playing on a team with bad starting pitching and a bottom 10 farm system. They should trade him ASAP and rebuild their farm this way. Their OF is 2 players who should be on the bench and a CF in decline, and Trumbo was a guy who was DFA’d just prior to last season and who slumped in the second half last season.
