Interesting we’re getting an update from the team’s president on the sale of the team the same day that Forbes evaluated them at roughly half the reported price they were seeking for the team of $1.6 billion. Is there a Kelley Blue Book for MLB teams?

Ugly stadium, low fan turn out, I mean the market can only be so much

But at least the new stadium is infested with feral cats!

The Buchholz trade is now looking much better for Boston.

I mean it was a salary dump they got nothing in return so it won’t really help the Sox but they were right to dump him

It was a somewhat bizarre pickup by Philly. Clay has always been a 50/50 guy. 50% of the time he looks great and 50% of the time he implodes. As a #5 most teams will take those odds, but at $13.5m (?)…that was stretch for Philly.
Connorsoxfan
Not really. Philly is a big market team who hasn’t spent much in recent years. Considering the price the other starters available went for, it’s not bad.

It always looked good for Boston. As long as we could get rid of him for a decent prospect and unload his contract we won the trade
biasisrelitive
they did unload the contract but they got basically nothing in return 26 year old 2b still in the minors isn’t really a prospect much less a decent one

The ridiculous part of the Buchholz trade is there were actually fans that regretted it after Price got hurt. Makes you think they must have been unconscious the last three years to think Buchholz was a good option in case of injury. There are superior options that are currently unsigned.
kyredsox17
Yes unsigned, but I think most fans were upset that the next best thing without Clay is Henry Owens; Who needs to just quit baseball. Then there’s Johnson, who gets anxious when he sees someone else’s shadow. You also had big question marks on the health of E-Rod/Wright/Pom, and I am still very concerned about the health of E-Rod/Pom for an entire season. The luxury tax penalties far outweighed the pros of keeping Clay in the mix. Especially with his own health concerns, but I’d rather have his skill set as a backup then Owens/Johnson any day.
Connorsoxfan
I think worst comes to worst they’d just add Fister.
Connorsoxfan
But they want to give those guys another chance. Johnson can still be a good pitcher, and I’m gonna blame Henry Owens’s issues on his hair until he gets a haircut. I’ll come up with something else after that. Hopefully that moment comes soon.
