Rounding3rd
Tonight’s line: 2/3 IP, 10 ER, 135.00 ERA. [mic drops]

certainly not rave reviews for ol’ Guthrie. I enjoyed the hell out of that win, if I may say.
AidanVega123
Might as well just hand him the award now

Dumb.

A note on the cubs, does anyone think they will trade Ian Happ or Elroy Jimenez for an ace pitcher at the deadline or another bullpen piece.
Priggs89
yes
petrie000
it’s just Eloy, and no, he’s probably not being moved just yet.
Happ’s probably available, though. Cubs fans love him, but realistically he’s kind of surplus at the moment so he shouldn’t be considered ‘untouchable’
chesteraarthur
really hard to answer that 1 week into the season.

Both for Sonny Gray.
Priggs89
He’d have to have one hell of a bounce back first half for that to happen. They’d be much better off making a play for Archer or Quintana if they’re getting rid of both imo.

Bronson Arroyo, 40, had a better retired after not pitcher in over two years for the Reds on Saturday!

Whattttttttt,,, English please
gofish 2
Bronson Arroyo had not pitched in two years and had a better start for the Reds last night than Guthrie did for the Nats.
RunDMC
Why was Ross demoted? I thought it was to keep him tuned up until they needed a fifth starter, but why didn’t he start in place of Guthrie?
nats1
It wasn’t a real demotion just word play. He’s down there for the reason you listed. However, when they decided to do that it made him ineligible to be called up for the first 10 days. It’s some kind of rule, so I guess teams can’t stack a roster, time eligibility, etc. He was never in danger of losing his spot. It’s just a shame that the organization didn’t think this through before hand considering the best option was a 38 y/o who hasn’t pitched in forever. This is why we don’t win championships. Dumb decision making!

Agreed, its a plague in MLB that almost all teams will select a washup over an unproven but with good AAA numbers, it happens a lot and youre so right, contending teams look so foolish when they do this.
