Let’s be real here. Goldschmidt was the real steal of the draft.

Oh heck yeah
8th round or something
Trout going through wasn’t even thought of something special but he turned it up a notch once he was drafted

Very good in depth read. Thanks for posting it.

Solid article.

Aj pollock is no mike trout but he is still really good
dodgerfan711
Back in the dark ages when if you sign an average player like Orlando Hudson you forfeit your 1st round pick and it goes to another team. Dbacks can thank the dodgers for pollock

THis is how Tampa was able to build a winner. It is MUCH more difficult to acquire young, impact talent now, and all the momentum in that regard went in the direction of the bigger market teams.

Any way you can post these and have an expand option or something to limit how much of the story shows up? scrolling through the the wall of text to look at things below it is super annoying.

Came to post this – also, is anyone even reading these? They’re way TOO long! How about getting an editor???

Probably isn’t for everyone, but it’s designed to be a full and lengthy look. You can feel free to skip them.

Just goes to show how big of a crap shoot the draft is. They whiff big on their top pick and find Goldy in the 8th round. Getting two solid players like him and
Pollock in ANY draft is historically, very, very good. Kudos.

As a loyal Diamondbacks fan (through the good and bad years), I must say, this article is an amazing read. Big thanks to Chuck and the rest of the MLBTR crew for putting this together! I would even read this had it not been about the Diamondbacks. Keep up the great work, guys, and thank you for all you do!

3rd Round: Wil Myers, Keon Broxton, Kyle Seager
7th Round: Dallas Keuchell, Khris Davis
8th Round: Brian Dozier, Paul Goldschmidt
9th Round: Brock Holt
10th Round: Yan Gomes
13th Round: Matt Carpenter
20th Round: JD Martinez
21st Round: AJ Ramos, Trevor Rosenthal
22nd Round: Mike Fiers
23rd Round: Matt Adams
25th Round: Justin Bour
48th Round: Vidal Nuno
