Out for several months Puma says now
Kayrall
“I have shoulder discomfort in my throwing arm.’
‘Is it bad?’
‘No.’
‘Then you’re clear to pitch.’
jackstein
Being a college pitcher I can see why they(management) let him pitch, they(being the player) know their bodies better then most. I personally have pitched in games where my arm was sore from warmups but I still went in there. If he was holding his shoulder after every pitch that’s a different story but a little discomfort is part of the game nobody is “100%” as they like to say regardless if it’s opening day or game 7 of the World Series, baseball season is one of the longest seasons in sports. So if he complained of a little discomfort but was comfortable running out to the mound then let it be unfortunately he had to have surgery but he probably thought it was just some arm fatigue.

Hey Jack….you sound like “TC”. Are you his alias?
TheMichigan
Nah, he’s right. I play college ball too and I’ve pitched/caught on days with a sore elbow.
Sometimes players feel more loyalty to the team than to their own personal health.
peterd
Yeah sure let him pitch with tingling in his hand. “Ace” Trainer Ray Ramirez strikes again. All the other pictures gotta be wondering who’s next. Ya think it’s time to pirate another trainer from another organization with a GOOD track record and limited injuries ??

“You are a NY Met. Sucking it up is part of being a whiz kid on our All Star pitching staff. No complaining no matter what. This is what makes us great.” “TC”

His symptoms were not significant but he was rushed into surgery a day later? Something is significantly wrong with the Mets medical staff.
jackstein
No where does it say on any report was he rushed to a hospital for surgery
mikeyank55
That’s true Jack, though your answer was rushed.
Do you think anyone in their sane mind would buy tickets for this pathetic franchise?
matteoscher
I’m pretty sure they had him do the surgery as soon as possible so that if he is out 2-3 months, he will be back in time for the stretch run… if there is one.

I’m not 100% on this, but I don’t think the Mets have an MRI machine next to the batting cages. There not medical staff, there trainers.
virginiascopist
With the way the injuries are piling up, an MRI machine next to the batting cages might be a prudent investment.
jakec77
The way things go for the Mets that would lead to a player getting cancer, the machine wouldn’t stop running.

Agreed

RIP Mets 2017 season.
Armaday
I wouldn’t write them off just yet. Yes, it looks bleak, but the back ups did a nice job last year. If they can stay somewhat in the mix, help will be back for the second half.
mikeyank55
There are no more backups coming from AAA. The Las Vegas team voted last night to refuse assignments to Flushing as a protest to how they treated last Sunday’s starter. In the resolution the pitching staff included a clause requesting Commissioner Rob Manfred to take control of the trainers and medical staff to insure that all pitchers’ well being is protected because of the clubs’ gross negligence and incompetence.

Mets are pretty Familia with the doctors office…amiright?
conquerbeard
First Britton, now Familia – that’s one fantasy team wrecked. Ugh.
