What a great pickup
tharrie0820
Bro you make me want to hashtag. This is a solid pickup not a great one
statmaster96
I agree. If nothing else, he’s definitely better than Lombardozzi.
tim815
Transactions that make the team better, make the team better, and should executed when possible.

Whatever your choice of adjectives, Colon represents a definite upgrade over Lombardozzi and Yefri Perez.

CC was part of two of the biggest plays in Royals history – and he’s a great dude.
Good luck to him in Miami – hopefully he can carve out a utility role at the ML level for the next few years.

Can you refresh my memory on just which plays those were? I have two very different plays in mind.

1) Scored the winning run in the 2014 Wild Card game. The Royals first post-season win in 29 years.
2) Drove in the winning run in Game 5 of the 2015 World Series. The Royals first World Series title in 30 years.

Check and mate!
TLB2001
And stole a base to get into scoring position so that a ground ball past the third basemen could score a run.

To think the Royals could have had Harvey or Sale with that 4th overall pick stings a little. He did everything the organization asked him to do. Good luck to him in Miami.
GareBear
He played a nice role on the Royals to World Series runs. I will take that over train wreck Harvey because at the end of the day we have the ring to show for it

Since when is .250/ .289/ .317 considered slashing?! My only real complaint about this site is how batting lines are described. No consistency from one article to the next. In this article, the disappointing major league numbers put up by Colon are better than Lombardozzi’s minor league slashing. Did I miss something? Is slashing the ball now referring to a slump?
cuban1
Im pretty sure when they said “slashed” it was simply referring to his slash line, avg/obp/slug, it wasnt a description
fettichico shiznilty
Cuban1 is 100% correct. I hope that changes your opinion on how this site describes batting lines. Basketball has triple slash too.
Monkey’s Uncle
I’ve always felt like Lombardozzi should see more major league action than he does. He absolutely has limits but he can be a useful bench piece for the right team.

The Marlins are wasting money. With the subpar staff they should be promoting in house to save money. Lombo just needed more time and opportunity. Colon was a good pick up, but it’s time for them to give the 24 year old prospects a chance, rather than throwing money at 4A players
