The description of what the taxpayers might get out of the sale sounded so much like a lawyer’s delight that I expect that it’s just a question of how many penny rolls they will need.

This is exactly why the language is built into contracts like this, and taxpayers get screwed every which way.
Unfortunately, Councillors, Ownership and Lawyers have no qualms with bleeding the taxpayer of dollars, so they can use that money in a merry-go-round of their chosen few. And there isn’t much that your average joe can do about it.
The system sucks.

There’s actually a lot that the average joe can do, like paying attention, and voting. The real problem is no one does those things. I bet my life savings all the politicians who contributed to and approved the Miami deal were re-elected.

I don’t get it. ESPN is laying off people in droves. Fans are going to more marquee games and ignoring the other games (the actual fans at the Rangers/Astros games at night was embarrassing). Point is, what happens when all the revenue streams take a step back. TV deals have been locked up for decades, the Marlins stadium is new (and still empty), they are competing with beaches, traffic, and the Strip. If the team is losing money today what is the optimistic piece I’m missing? Seems like a crazy amount of money to throw at this team.

Baseball has nothing to do with ESPN’s struggles. That has more to do with their programming, focus (Tebow? Give me a break) and insistence on being subsidized by all cable packages and such.

ESPN isn’t being “subsidized” by cable packages. That is a revenue stream.

while it could still be a significant amount, there are some limits to how much the taxpayers can recoup.
Well, this sounds promising, to me it should be fair and whatever is fair should be done!!!!!!
