Imagine being an Angels fan. That team is horrible at finding waiver talent and developing prospects. Meanwhile, Harrison is tearing up AA in his 2nd year and we found Lewis Brinson for free. Feels good to be a giants fan and the Angels are still looking up at the stros. lol
Datashark
I think SFG had edge on the claim over Angels, and Brinson has yet to prove anything other than speculative and prone to K
louwhitakerisahofer
Flexing over Lewis Brinson seems odd, unless you’re living in 2018.
Shrutefarm
Right? Lewis Brinson career negative OWar AND negative DWar. And that’s over 300 mlb games and 1000 mlb AB’s.
They’ve certainly lowered their standards in SF.
.
On a super positive note, we do have the best color commentator in the game..Mark Gubicza (GUBIE)!!
Jon M
Richard Eugene Manning would like a word
.
Hmm…Maybe they can fight for the title or something. Gubie used to be pretty mean on the mound so I don’t know..
phenomenalajs
So would Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling and Keith’s originally from SF.
Basebombs
The farm system is ranked middle bottom after a down year which has seen Heliot Ramos and Hunter Bishop regress.
But hey, it’s not last like the Angels.
Brinson is a quad A player.
DarkSide830
LOL at bragging about having Lewis Brinson.
CaptainJudge99
Oswald Peraza should of been up a month ago. When he wasn’t traded in a Luis Castillo package, he should of been called up, right away. The Yankees need hitting and great defense. No reason why he couldn’t be leading off against lefties and batting 9th against righties. (Yankees kid gloves) Smh

What is wrong with Milwaukee they have Sal Frelick tearing it up at every level and doing even better in AAA yet they rather have a .375 hitter stay there.
drasco036
I really need the brewers to get their act together and over take the Padres for the final wild card spot.
GarryHarris
Sal Frelick could be that slight adjustment to fix the Brewers offense. It still mystifies me how they allowed Lorenzo Cain to be the starting CF for so long at the detriment of the Brewers season.
MannyPineappleExpress9
Same reason they’ve allowed so many guys to hover around the .220-.230 avg and/or strike out 35-50% of the time…it’s HR or bust, and specifically in Cain’s case, they were paying him a lot of money..and it would appear they had every intention of getting him his 10 years of service time.
fisher40
The brewers bought up 2 highly touted prospects Mitchell recently and now Ruiz who were deserving. As far as Frelick yes, he’s having a good year but right now it’s not his time. Don’t be surprised if the brewers trade 2 highly touted OF prospects for a seasoned CF
Cosmo2
Yea this I don’t get. I don’t know much about Milwaukee but the guy is 22, playing very well for a while at AAA… what exactly are they waiting for?
James O'Donnell
How is it that every time that more than one player in baseball history exists with the same name, you manage to link to the wrong one every single time, no matter how obscure the wrong player is? Just look at the first name listed – Hunter Brown.
TheMichigan
It’s an automatic link they have when they write the article that goes to BBRef. I’m not sure they’re the ones who control it inherently.
I still consider it a luxury when it does work, I love checking players stats.
Samuel
At a time when Catchers hard to find and in demand, the Phillies got yet another one?
They’ve got the best all-around Catcher in MLB, and very possibly the best back-up Catcher. It appears Mr. Sands can hit, would like to see him work a game.
HawaiiPhil2020
I hope it means Stubbs can ph or play left or 2b if needed and we still have a back up catcher.
Plus all our outfielders on the 40 man roster are in mlb or hurt or named jhailyn Ortiz.
We had to scrape to find Zimmer and blue jays grabbed him when we dfa him
None of the utility infielders in aaa are hitting much. And they don’t play outfield as well as Stubbs nor Maton.
ham77
I thought they would bring Hall back, but probably just not enough AB’s for another DH type guy.
gregorydefelice
Harper will be DH every game because of his elbow.
DarkSide830
Hall’s gotten one total hit at LHV since his demotion. Sands has hit better all season TBH.
DarkSide830
Rafael Marchan is the team’s #4 C at the moment and he’s probably betyer than what most of the league has for backups. LOADED.
TB12#8N2023
When did Jesus Aguilar get traded from Miami?
allweatherfan
He wasn’t traded; he was released.
jimmertee
And the BlueJays add Casey Lawrence and Bradley Zimmer. Combined with the Whit Merifield and Mitch White pickups at the deadline, they are on track for their first World Series. lol.
Anyone believe that it is time for all baseball personnel decision making be removed from Atkins and Shapiro?
Roughed Odor
Zimmer makes no sense. They replaced him already with Jackie. Lawrence is fin he has options. They probably need a long man and he will be sent down and replaced with someone else. Zimmer is mind boggling to me. Like we need 6 outfielders plus half the infield plays out there to.
Samuel
“Anyone believe that it is time for all baseball personnel decision making be removed from Atkins and Shapiro?”
jimmertee;
Don;t believe Mr. Atkins made major baseball decisions in Cleveland, but his last 2 or so years there Mr. Shapiro was removed from making baseball decisions and oversaw a number of business operations – I believe they were refurbishing the park, which is fact was a major consideration to ownership. That experience likely helped Mr. Shapiro get the President & CEO position with the Blue Jays.

I’m not sure what it will take for Mark Vientos to get called up by the Mets. He’s already on the 40 man and has an .893 OPS after putting up a .933 OPS last year in the minors. Plus he’s slashing .343/.400/.575/.975 over the last month.
Probably just a bad fit or bad timing. Maybe it’s because Marrero is more flexible defensively, so when Guillorme comes back next week, Marrero might be headed back down. Or maybe they just want Vientos playing every day, which he wouldn’t do in the bigs.
LFGMets (Metsin7)
Hes a much better hitter than Ruf. Ruf should be Da’d, hes finished
Cosmo2
I agree. Anything Ruf can do Vientos can most likely do much better.
phenomenalajs
Marrero’s temporary to bridge the gap between Baty’s injury and Guillorme’s return. The 28-man limit for September makes it difficult to add September call-ups. I understand opening it up to the entire 40-man could get unwieldy, especially in the era of COVID, but at least 30 would be reasonable. Vientos would get his shot and Dom could get one more chance to be with the team. I know Vogey’s dealing with a bad hamstring but they decided not to put him on the IL. Dom would’ve returned in that case.
DarkSide830
Thanks for the list Steve!
C Yards Jeff
#DarkSide830; yep, me too. I can get so caught up in the on goings of a few teams that I can lose perspective on what the other teams r up too. Thanks Steve and Anthony!
66TheNumberOfTheBest
This little kid who called the Mets game is already ten times better than Joe Buck.
tstats
Joe Buck is a football commentator that’s why
66TheNumberOfTheBest
No, it’s because Joe Buck is terrible, that’s why.
Samuel
Many MLB broadcasters are……but unfortunately, not enough.
ohyeadam
Marwin Gonzalez and his 2017 slash line compared to the rest of his career lmao
jimthegoat
Been hanging with Tatis?
ohyeadam
AJ hinch and Jim Cora (trash canagers)
ohyeadam
Who is Jim Cora?
TheMan 3
And the worst team in the National League refuses to DFA the worst hitting and fielding utility player Josh Van Meter
He can’t hit, field or throw yet he remains on a team that is in dire need of everything that he can’t contribute to
66TheNumberOfTheBest
Yeah, why does that tanking team keep playing bad players?
TheMan 3
Because the owner, Bob Nutting cares more about his personal profit than putting a competitive team on the field
phenomenalajs
I guess that “worst” adjective is subjective because they don’t have the worst record in the NL, but he could be part of the plan to get there.
TheMan 3
Correction
The worst hitting team in the NL
.220 batting average and Van Meter’s .170 average certainly doesn’t help
nrd1138
It would have been a bit of a stretch, but would have liked to see Colas get a Sept call up for the White Sox. Same with Yolbert Sanchez and Cespedes.. I guess there really just no room right now for them as the Sox still have a shot at the division.
rememberthecoop
Hunter Brown. Word is that Jed was asking for him in return for Contreras. Instead the Stros traded for Vasquez w/o parting with such a high-end piece. That would have been a great return for a 3 month rental.
Hank Murphy
I would love to know what kind of incriminating evidence Bradley Zimmer has to use as blackmail in order to have a job in professional baseball.
chrisjaybecker
As a Mariners fan, it’s nice for once that our initial September call ups, Taylor Trammell and Matthew Boyd, are kinda Ho-hum. Usually, we’re looking for a September Savior to coin a phrase. This year, a couple bench pieces are good enough.
MarlinsFanBase
Congrats to Deven Marrero being back up. Enjoy the life!
MarlinsFanBase
Marlins bring up jeff Brigham? Really? Is that because he’s our next Closer or will his 30-your old upside project to something ireplacable?
Jack Buckley
Maybe the worst trade ever, Christian Yellich to the Brewers for who
Cosmo2
Whomever. At least they don’t have to pay Yelich. Nowhere near the worst trade ever.
MarlinsFanBase
Sadly, not even Mike Hill’s worst trade ever.
See Miggy Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis (a season removed from Willis’ best season). Then the mishandling of a certain reliever afterward.
rally squirrel
Why haven’t the Cardinals given Alec Burleson a look this season? Looks like he’s been tearing it up at AAA all season.
harrycracks 77
Can you change the cover picture, this guy is but ugly
joew
No mason martin callup for the pirates is a little aggravating to me.but i guess they don’t want him getting ROTY and save that service time lol.
Seriously though. while his power hasn’t been what we are used to, he doesn’t seem to be selling out for power getting on much more since the start of august .
Hopefully we see him at least a few games this year.
