Padres fan
They gave him that extension
He stopped hitting, and had lingering wrist issues he refused to get surgery on for years
Yeah I’m pretty pissed about maybin in sd just like others in sd
Doesn’t deserve another large contract

Some serious revisionist history here. He had one good year with the Padres. One year where he played through the wrist injury. He tore up his knee the next season and had the wrist surgery at the same time . Ended up getting suspended for 25 games for adderall the next season after failing to get a TUE. Played fairly well after that.
The notion that he refused surgery “for years” just isn’t true. He played through it one season and got it fixed the next year. You might be getting this confused with a separate wrist injury he suffered in Detroit, where his wrist was broken by a HBP.
And that extension wasn’t really for that much and the Padres stopped paying for it a couple years ago anyway. They’re paying Melvin Upton way more money this year and he’s not even playing for them.

He did on the wrist
Knee was year 3 then traded
wants to be a GM
Are you his former agent?
padreforlife

Agreed!!! Loved Maybin with the Braves…

If he can’t push Revere to the bench, FA isn’t going to be kind to him.
diddlez
Am I the only one who has never been impressed by this guy?
reseda refugee
Nope. Another Padre fan here who hopes he stays with the competition.

Loved Maybin’s year in Detroit, … other than he only played in half the games. When he’s in the lineup, it’s a fun game to watch! He just can’t seem to avoid injury.

It is unfortunate. Of course, the first injury was a fluke – the broken wrist from the Luis Severino fastball in spring training. The second injury, the sprained thumb from diving for a ball, is also a little fluky, but his career has been marked by a fair amount of nagging injury. Some guys just can’t hold up under the strain of a baseball season.
