I love this trade, gives us a solid, cheap closing option!

It actually makes a lot of sense for both teams. The Sox are too far away from contending to need a young closer. Reed was far more valuable to the Sox as a trade piece that brought in a talented, young 3B. I think this may actually be one of the rare occasions that a trade really did work out for both sides.

if the dbacks could go back in time 2 years and not make one player move, theyd have everything they need

The Cahill trade?

Or they mean if they could go back and not make any moves, the roster would be at its best, in their opinion.

C Montero, 1B Goldschmidt, 2B Owings, SS Drew, 3B Davidson, RF Upton, CF Pollack/Eaton, LF Parra. That’s not a bad line-up. At least that’s what I assume the OP meant.

The Diamondbacks still have most of those players. I think Trumbo, Prado and Gregorius/Owings (at short, with Hill at 2nd) is actually better than that lineup. Remember, you need good veteran leadership and Prado and Hill bring that along with some ridiculous power (and a great clubhouse guy) in Trumbo. I’ll take my chances with this year’s team. Of course, I wouldn’t mind going back a few more years and still having Carlos Gonzalez and Max Scherzer (among others).

I like the moves KT has made this year… Reed and Trumbo will make them better. Who cares about the prospects that haven’t worked out in AZ… this makes the team better NOW! And it doesn’t cripple them in the long run because both guys they landed are young.
Next step, sign Tanaka and call it an offseason. PLZ HAPPEN
