Of course clubhouse chemistry is going to be an issue when morale is so low. GM-now-VP Billy Boy committed to blowing up the team every year or two, worst record in the AL, worst stadium in baseball along with Tropicana Field, etc.

He’s not committed to blowing up the team. He’s committed to competing every year with the resources he’s given. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do in order to stay competitive.
Even if he did blow up the team every year or two (which isn’t the case), the A’s have finished in 1st or 2nd in 12 out of 18 years that he’s been GM.
Some of these mainstream generalizations about the A’s and Beane are comical.

Agreed, AsFan89.
To me, the story of the 2015 A’s was their bad luck in the first half – even with the terrible defense and bullpen, they scored more runs than they allowed for the majority of the season. On July 3rd (I probably could find slightly later numbers if I searched harder) they had scored 369 runs and allowed 321 (+48), though their record was 37-46. They did in fact have sufficient talent to win (before the deadline trades) – they just couldn’t put it together in terms of wins and losses. If they had been even .500 in one-run and two-run games, they would have been in the thick of the Wild Card and Division races. The bullpen was probably the major disappointment. Semien and Lawrie faded offensively down the stretch, but they made major strides defensively after a historically bad first half (that added up to a historically bad year). But I think for both of them, going through this whole year as unquestioned starters will help their development immensely.
It usually doesn’t take long for Beane & company to unleash a surprise or two. Looking forward to seeing what the A’s do next.

The angels need to go over the Luxury Tax to get the players they need, it would be worth it.
