The second paragraph concludes with ‘after the game, he’.

Was Buchholz healthy when traded to the Phillies? The trade always looked good for the Red Sox. Now, it looks prescient.

It was good for both sides. The Red Sox got him off their books and got a player in return (yet not a superstar). The phils got a bit of a reclamation project hoping he would pitch well enough to flip at the deadline for prospects.

Hmm… Can’t see that helping his trade value.

… same old song. Frustrating.

Oh, who cares? he was nothing more than an innings eater/rotation filler who on an off chance had a great run he might get them a semi-decent prospect at the deadline. Now he’ll go under the knife for Tommy John surgery, and look for someone to take a chance on his next offseason.
While I understood the rationale of acquiring veteran arms, I’d rather see those innings go to Jake Thompson or Ben Lively (or someone else in the system) than Bucholz.

Another normal Buchholz season, enjoy it while it lasts Philly.
